It's been said a million times.. It's a no-risk move.
Any team that signs him basically get him for 'free'. No assets will be given to acquire him, and his first contract will be a 2 way deal no matter where he signs.
If he earns the bonuses that will surely be on the contract, well then he's worth the capspace, if not then he can be sent down.

Or maybe Shirokov...or Kablukov...

and I'm pretty sure VAN doesn't own Koltsov's rights anymore, making him an UFA.

This is exactly why a lot of people have problems with Montreal fans around here. Who asked about Sergei Kostitsyn? Is he UFA and able to sign with any team and in the same situation so there is at least some relevance here? No.

Coming from a Pens fan? You would be the authority on annoying fanbases.

Point is, this has nothing to do with Pens or Montreal.

I read somewhere that Brunnstrom's agent recently had a radio interview, any one know what was said?

Yea he was on the radio here.... just talked about how Nonis was a big part of him coming here...and now that he was fired they take a step back....

and went on to talk about how the Sedin's felt..since he is their agent as well

so pretty much...nothing new was said

Brunnstrom isn't 32 years old (the age when Jiri came to North America) though.

I'm quite calm. I just find it super annoying that there cant be a single thread about a player without some montreal fan interjecting how one of their players is better then said player.

Well the leafs caught a break. Hopefully we can close the deal and add a young top 6-9 forward for nothing.

Well after Stralman basically bashed the Leaf management today, I think he (F.B) will reconsider.

Of course, but if he signs anywhere else he'll be a star, right?

Trust me its a risk worth taking in our situation. We are not using any of our resources in terms of players and draft picks and could potentially add a very good young player to our lineup.

Well he sounded off on the leafs former management. During Fletcher's tenure Stralman was given the ice time and the responsibility that he expected from the beginning.

That's true. But the hype is somewhat similar. Sure hope I'm wrong. There's gonna be a lot of disapointed people if he doesn't produce.

Wasn't somebody comparing him to Thoresen?

How similar/different are they? They both played in the SEL - at the same age?

Brunnstrom is a phenominal prospect who COULD be a star in the making. He is a risk worth taking for sure. If the Leafs land him, good for the Leafs. He will fit into their rebuild nicely.
