Calgary Flames getting Spanked

I thought this deserved a thread of its' own.

Down 3-0 in the first 3 and a half minutes, Kipprusoft pulled.

The "C of Dead" indeed.

how bad is Dion Phaneuf in his own end?

Watching the first 5 minutes of Game 3 has been orgasmic. I can't decide which I take more pleasure in, watching the flames or ducks get spanked...theyre both good though!

Dion Phaneuf is absoutely dreadfull in his own end. Yes he can hit, yes he has a good shot, but the guy is LOST on defence. He was at fault on both the 2nd and 3rd goals. Thoughts?

Im smiling ear to ear right now. Between watching this game, and the ducks lose last night...it's just about as good as watching the oilers go on a run!

The term 'Kipprusoft' is deadly accurate.

I was just saying to my friend that he was assured to let at least one softy in..

LoL nice. Anyways i think people focus on his physical and offensive play to much and they kind of forget how his defensive play is

Yep, "physical" is not synonymous with "defense." The Flames have shown absolutely horrendous positioning in the defensive zone and that's why they're losing 3-0. Likewise, while people will naturally complain about the calls getting made against them, shouldn't they finally be starting to realize that you get your stick up on an opposing player and the call will be made?

He's very impactful. His area's where he shines will make the highlight reels, but his poor defensive plays won't. But having said this, he's not as bad defensivly as some of you are making him out to be. Yes he can get running around in his own zone but he's still pretty decent defensivly. If he doesn't improve his defensive play a good sports comparison for him would be Vince Carter IMO.

it's easy to criticize when:

1) you're not playing
2) your team is on the outside looking in

I hope they run the score up on them. A 11-1 score would make me happy.

Are you a troll coming to our board in spite of how badly your team is losing, only to see a thread about how happy we are your team is losing, which in-turn only infuriates the already infuriated?

just asking

Yup.. but he is bad enough defensively that throwing the word "Norris" around with his name right now is enough to make one crack a rib laughing. Beyond ridiculous that anyone would consider him the best defenseman in the league when he can't even kill a penalty.

No mention of Keenan the goalie hooker?

The pull is justified this time but if he does this a few times he will mess with Kippers head and I love it.

The odd thing is they're getting used to this by now and so the emotional pain and suffering is not nearly so bad. I will never forget watching Game 7, Ana vs. Calgary, in '06. The cameras kept panning to the stands late in the game... I have never seen such anguish like that before. It looked like a morgue.

Just to keep things half realistic around here, I would love Phaneuf on the Oilers.

The difference is, the Oilers have something to look forward to.

The Flames?

This team hasn't advanced past the first round since 1989, with the exception of 2004 and are in salary cup hell going forward.
