Hackett

Just wanted to know what will happen with Hackett?
If Burke comes in, he's the odd man out.

Use the vertigo as an excuse for him to not be able to play and try to collect on insurance.

you dont think vertigo is a good excuse?

thats like saying you broke your ankle and we'll just use that as an excuse why you can't play. Its not an excuse, its a reason

I didn't say it's a good excuse or a bad one, I just stated that they would use that as an excuse (maybe a valid one.) However, I think the vertigo thing is being way overstated because Clarke has lost faith in Hackett.

Hackett is already back and playing and we're not too close to the trade deadline, so I think the real reason Clarke is trying to get Burke is because of Hackett's play, rather than the vertigo. But that's just my opinion/conspiracy theory.

A "reason" is why something happened.

An "excuse" is used to deflect the blame of why something happened.

I don't think Hackett is acting for Clarke's sake. It is a stretch to believe a competetive person would not only sabotage his career, but also his public perception, especially for the good of a team he has been on for only a few months.
