All Star Predictions

Just for fun, What does everyone think about the All Star Game. I think even thought West has better lineup, they win a close one. I am going with 6-5. If anyone wants to take a shot at the skills competion go for it. I may crack a shot before it starts.

the west will go into the third with a 5-2 lead.

vokoun will give up three goals on three shots, get pulled, and the east will score in the dying seconds to win

9-8 West wins.. Vokoun lets in 2, and Timmo gets one assist

Here are my skills picks:

Puck Control: West overall, Martin St. Louis individual
Accuracy: Markus Naslund
Fastest Skater: Martin St. Louis
Hardest Shot: Nicklas Lidstrom
Goalie Competition: Marty Turco

If St. Louis only participates in 1 of the 2 events that I picked him in, than my alternate is Datsyuk in control or Guerin in Fastest. East probably wins tonight by a fluke.

I agree. 26 goals and 27 assists. But who would you get rid of? Doan? Iginla? I guess someone has to stay home. But I do think Hejduk deserves it.

Well, they showed the Youngstar highlites and no Hamhuis. I'd say some of his hits were quite a bit more spectacular than any of the goals I saw.

So far Hammer looks very nervous as does most everyone else. He got beat on a semi-pinch on one of the first plays of the game but Sauve bailed him out.

Hamhuis turns the puck over and is a -1. Melrose blames him for not blocking the pass but that's horse****. He's looked very good ever since. Had a nice scoring chance and looked very smooth with the puck. Hopefully the jitters are over.

Well, he's even now. Hamhuis forced a turnover in his own zone and West eventually scores off Orpik's stick.

Hamhuis needs to realize he can play offense here. I think he reverts back to his Nashville ways more often than not here. He's more offensively talented than any other Dman save for Pitkanen. But he's protecting his own end too much. He just has the wrong mindset. He's less likely to enter the other teams zone as Zherdev is to enter his own.

Raycroft doesn't look so hot. He had no idea that Lupul was there.

Damn, Hamhuis looks sweet on D. Ryder tried to turn him inside out, a poke check later, the West had a 2-0.

I loved Thorne's response to Panger saying, "what was I talking about?" I think Gary is already on his 8th adult beverage and we arent even to the skills yet. Here is my question: This is an opportunity to showcase the young talent, why do they have 2-line passes and offsides? Just let them show what they can do!

Hammer has been awesome in his own end. I'd love to see the +/- after this is all over.

Thorne is definitely enjoying himself. I wonder if the beer is free in the booth. If I was a beer vendor up on his level, I'd give him a few on me.

Hamhuis gets hung out to dry and still foils the 2-1 as time winds down.

I think Hamhuis was better than Pitkanen in this one. I think he was clearly the best Dman out there.

You're on to something, Thorn just started screaming about Canadian teams making the playoffs...

Oh Volzok and I have been on to Thorne's drinking for atleast 3 years now. I remember watching hockey with him and recognizing it in 2000. The best is when one of them slips up and cusses and there's awkward silence in the booth for around 10 seconds following it.

West dominates and is up 2-0. Alfie gets the jump but his hair holds him back and Nash wins the 1 on 1.

wow, timonen impressed me in that one. nice comments in regard to kimmo, as well. kind of funny that doan and datsyuk were cutting up\laughing...and timonen was just kind of standing there, behind them.
