#16 and the ol' one finger salute

Avery just isn't ignoring the press anymore, seems like he's finally saying what he wants, maybe cause he knows he won't have to deal with NY much longer? ...or has he finally made himself at home in New York?

He's going to get fined by the league for that.

During practice Tuesday, WNBC-TV cameras caught Avery simulating his Brodeur "face guard" by waving his stick. When Avery realized he was "caught," he shot his middle finger in the direction of the Ch. 4 camera and mouthed something.

Daily News is bush league

Weren't they the ones who leaked the madam ****?

How does one "catch" an athlete doing something in his own practice?

They need to get a life

If I see the DN, I'll do the same as Sean

He flipped off the WNBC cameraman, not the Daily News, and the incident has been widely reported. If anything, Avery needs to get over himself.

Overreaction on my part.

But it does seem like DN is a little too interested in everything Sean Avery

Id flip them off too if I had a camera following ever thing I do at WORK/PRACTICE..Just think someone next to you right now at work and filming youre every move. Its got to get annoying after awhile. I would think they have a camera on him the whole practice, waiting for something like this to happen.

I think it is only a matter of time before Avery becomes a far bigger negative than positive. Pissing off the league and your opponents and the refs is not going to help your team in the long run.

I hope they don't resign him because I don't think things are going to get better with him. I'm betting they get worse and he becomes a total detriment. At the salary he is going to want I'd let him walk.

Avery cries for attention and gets it. He has only himself to blame for his constant coverage. To then do stupid things in front of a camera shows you how little he's thinking about possible ramifications of his actions.

I agree he brings this on himself. but still, it sucks to have people watching everything you do, waiting 4 u to do something stupid. He made his own bed.

Well I think when you're a player on a national level you go into it expecting to deal with the media. Its not like Dubi came in and was completely surprised that theres cameras around. its expected.

I'm guessing he will get fined and talked to. Practice that is open to reporters is part of the public domain and if he exhibits behavior that is considered negative in the public domain I'm pretty sure he is fair game for discipline, whether it be practice or walking down the street.

Cue Devils fans saying that this is causing more disharmony in the locker room.

I don't know... he's basically like Corey Perry is for is... he's a total ass on the ice, and makes a nuisance of himself. Then again, Perry is very quiet off the ice, and Avery is, well... he's Avery off the ice.

So, I guess what I am saying is that Avery will only become a negative if he gets to the point where his antics are bothering HIS OWN team. The more he pisses off the other teams the better, but he does have to watch his attitude with his own teammates.
