Tsn just said Habs in running for Fabien Brunnstrom

That would be awesome

In an article he said Kovalev is one of his favorite players

Isn't he asking for top-line minutes? We have several players more deserving of a spot than this guy.

No thanks. I'd prefer a big bodied player to do Lats job for him instead of another skilled winger.

This team is good enough that now isn't the time to give roster slots to unproven young players, which could be better used by veterans contributors.

It was on TSN, Dreger said it.

Canucks were about to get him and they fired Nonis. Stars, Sens, Leafs are also interested.

As odd as it may be, I can confirm it, for what that's worth. They mentioned Toronto, Detroit, Dallas, Boston, Ottawa and Montreal (I think that was it) during the first intermission.

Dreger said he is 6'1'' 210lbs with Hossa's speed...not bad

Asking for 2mil$ uncludding bonuses.

Please enlighten me on the reason why everybody is seeking this guy out. Top line minutes directly out of SEL? That would mean he's at least as good as Nicklas Backstrom right? Or better? Is he some big shot power forward? Cuz I don't see why we would need another skill guy on our top 6.

source is TSN television.

It would be amazing to sign Brunnstrom, as we don't have any forward prospects as hyped as he is. The downside is he'd be yet another young winger in the mix trying to develop a core.*

*he is a winger, right?

And first line ice time, which Toronto can probably offer him. MTL can not.

In any case, much like Elund, TSN is guaranteed to mention Montreal and Toronto in almost any free agent dealings to generate traffic.

They said, he was going to sign with Vancouver till Nonis got fired: teams in the running are Vancouver, Detroit, Leafs, Dallas, Habs, Boston and late runner Ottawa.

also in this article it says one of his favorite player is Kovalev

He's. But a guy who wants top 6 minutes right away just because he's doing good in Sweden... I don't really want.

Don't want him? You guys are nuts. This kid is the real deal. You guys are too funny!

We didn't even have a legit 2nd line RW for most of the year.

Exactly, he'd be great on a line with Koivu and one of Latendresse/Higgins/S. Kostitsyn

Also we don't have to give up anything to get him, how often can you pick up a 22-23 year old with potential for nothing?

Then we have to give up on someone, or cut yet another skilled forward's ice time and put him with grinders. Is he that much better than little Kosty that it's worth having Kosty in the minors to start the year, or worse, playing's on Lapierre's wing?

I think the Swede factor is bigger than going to a competitive team, as evidenced by the original Vancouver direction. My bet is he'll still sign with Vancouver.

Jiri Dopita looked very promising too.

The problem with him is there's basically no basis of comparison between him and any other NHL player, and thus, little indication of how he can perform in an NHL rink.
