Hackett retiring?

I was just checking TSN.ca to check on the Weinrich deal, and this popped up as well.

Maybe Burke is going to be a Flyer sooner rather than later.

I think this is the right thing for Jeff. He knows he is putting the team in a tough spot if they have to wait to see if he gets better. Instead of making things complicated if they do get Burke while he was on the team, he is bowing out gracefully. Plus, he can stop messing with his head. His health is more important than playing a game.

It certainly would lessen the worries about Burke's contract next year, with Hackett off the books.

I feel bad for Hackett though, hopefully he can fully recover from this and not have lifelong effects.

The Burke deal is on pace...

I think it is the best thing to do for Hack Up. He's done as a Flyer. Period.
But that's crazy to think that anybody but one guy here knew Hack went to be a bust ...guess who?

Hope to god not

At least for the rumored price. I really think Esche can start in the postseason; sure he wont single-handedly win any series, but come on we've seen Irbe get to the finals. He won't turn in a dominant performance, but he's our best option at the moment. A Hackett retirement wouldn't precipitate any sort of move IMO, because i am slowly gaining confidence that Antero could at least hang on as a backup and maybe start once or twice a week as the year closes out (at least vs weaker teams)..anyone else agree?
