"Here, pack your bags. It's evident to me that you guys are looking forward to your summer by the way you've been playing. Those who havent packed their things and left early for vacation, I'll see you on the ice come gametime."
"Its obvious I can't motivate people, just like I couldn't motivate you in game 5, or 6, or those last 2 games last season against both Toronto, and NYR, so instead to trying to motivate you, I've decided to... get really really drunk instead.
At least this way, I'll have an excuse for playing Begin with 1min left in a critical playoff game when down a goal.
*Hick* make me proud out *hick* there
OT: I changed back to my old avatar, the sin city one went 1-3
''Either we heal as a team or we are going to crumble...''
''we're in hell right now...gentleman, believe me...and, we can stay here, get the ***** kicked out of us OR we can fight our way back into the light...''
''The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in every break of the game. Every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch.''
''When we add up all those inches, that is going to make the f***ng difference between winning and losing. Living and dying. I'll tell you this, in any fight, it's the guy who is willing to die, who is going to win that inch.''
''You gotta look at the guy next to you...look into his eyes...now I think you will see a guy who will go that inch with you...you will see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team...because he knows when it comes down to it, you are going to do the same for him. That's A TEAM, gentleman. And either we heal NOW, as a team, or we will die.''
"One game guys, this is what it has come down to. Your season is this game right here, tonight. Win, we move on. Lose, we go our seperate ways and the season we had is lost."
"We skate, we out hustle, out shoot and we out hit for 60 minutes...not a minute less!"
"We are the better team, but we have let them be the better team in this series because we are letting them bring the play to us. We are getting coaxed into playing their boring style of hockey and we need to change that right off the opening face off."
"Tonight is your night. It's your night as a team to go out there and play the brand of Montreal Canadien hockey that got you first place, that had you beat this team 12 straight games and that made us the highest scoring team in the league!"
"I'm not asking one or two of you to carry us, I'm asking you all to carry us...we got here together as a team, we'll get this win together as a team."
I disagree... We all know superstions are silly, but wearing the tie says
"I believe you'll win this game."
Whereas not wearing it says
"I don't think you guys can win, so I'm giving you a free excuse if we lose, I didnt wear the tie."
I don't remember what was Carbo's exact statement by wearing the tie in game 1, but to me, wearing the tie says:
"We're going to win, no matter what! Don't worry!"
If the Habs had been playing in pure synergy and with great emotion in the last couple of games, then wearing the tie would be a great symbol, but since that's not been the case and some Habs, Carbo included, need to make adjustments or just plain step it up, they need to believe in themselves and their actions on the ice, and not in some lucky tie.
Maybe I'm taking this tie business a little too seriously, but I think it's the wrong message in the Habs current situation and a distraction from the coaching Carbo has to provide to the players.
