I don't like that it took having their backs up against the wall to respond, but the fact is they did respond. Kudos! The Bruins made it a good series, but I LOVE that in the end, the game was played like Game 1 and like the rest of the season. Heading into the second round on a great note and having hopefully learned a quality lesson.
Onto thursday vs. Philly or New York...i'll actually be on a plane to Holland for 2 weeks (i'll be watching online for sure) but here's hoping that when I land the Habs have taken a 1-0 lead on whoever they're playing
Good to see Dandenault was benched, hopefully he doesn't start again for a while. Clocked 6:50 icetime, most was in the 1st when he stunk up the ice.
Briesbois didn't get much icetime after he laid an egg in the 1st also with 13:24 icetime. At least he pinched in setting up that 4th goal, if we gotta dress him at least he should only be playing on the PP. His shot is pretty weak, but is accurate and he's probably the best Dman at getting it on net through traffic, our #1 pair of Streit and Markov are experts at shooting into kneepads.
A spectacular game! The return to our game. So much invaluable experience gained by our young players in this series. This game 7 win has shown them what they can do, what they are capable of doing IF they believe in themselves.
The ones that were supposed to lead, lead the way. This is a defining moment in our franchise. This is the beginning.
Some points we need to address: first, discipline. We need to control our emotions, show self-control and responsiblity. Sergei needs to better control himself, while I do love his passion, I want him to contain and focus it more. Bouillion, he levelled Lucic but on the same play boarded Kessel (I think). A positive neutralized by a negative. Quit while your ahead. Third, Brisebois. Yes, he got an assist. But at what cost? His experience did not come into play, his offensive contribution was heavily outweighed by his poor decision making, flustered behavior, and loss of foot speed.
We need to improve. We should enjoy our success, but starting tomorrow, the above points and more, have to be addressed.
I believed from the beginning. I don't know how many times I've said this. Regardless, whether I believe or everyone else does or doesn't, its ultimately our guys on the ice that need to do, with themselves, and with their teammates.
Guys, remember this time, its just a beautiful feeling, we're on our way! Believe!
They got the **** scared out of them and rebounded in a big way. I'd sooner have seen them polish Boston off faster to get some rest for Koimsarek, Koivu, Bouillon, etc, but the major gut-check ought to serve as a big lesson learned.
