All haters can eat me. He played like a leader and champ tonight. Anyone who knows hockey knows he was a true warrior tonight. On on a broken foot he wins 71% of his faceoffs last game and 58% tonight.
But most importantly, he won a ton of battles along the boards and winning a battle against Chara (who is nearly a foot taller and 90 pounds heavier...) in the first really set the tone. This team is different with him.
I love this guy. 3 assists in 2 games and a ton of heart. The little warrior really helped his team tonight. Congrats to Saku.
I was amazed. If anyone remember Yzerman playing on one knee, Saku was like that tonight, he did all the little things, all the big things that make a warrior, a warrior. Wow.
Remembered game 6, Boston just scored to lead 4-3. Saku went to the ice right away. Banging a Bruins player behind Thomas net, get the puck and pass it to Sergei Kostisysn. One pass to Higgins and we tied the game. That's how clutch he is.
I don't know how many of you caught it, but there was a small sign to me that we were going to bring it all game long tonight in the first.
I believe it was 1-0 already at the time, and the Koivu/Kovalev line just had a chance, with Kovalev firing a pass through to the front of the net and Koivu trying to find it to whack it in. Thomas froze it, and Koivu immediately skated over to Kovalev and tapped his hand as if to say "good work" or "nice try" or "I'll get that one next time".
It was great to see him out there. He definitely was needed. This team really is different with him in the line-up - the intensity he brought to the last two games carried the team through this tough series.
