Just as the Habs fans have bad apples that boo the American anthem, we have bad apples that are anti-francophone.

Think of how you think of your fellow fans who boo the American anthem.... now imagine how we feel about our fans being Quebec-bashers. Same difference.

PLUS! Oiler fans are predominantly Canadians fans:
Here are the results of my (in)famous preference polls:

Fav Canadian Teams by Oiler Fans?
1. Edmonton (lock)
2. Montreal (60.10%)
3. Ottawa (84.4%)
4. Toronto (62.32%)
5. Vancouver (51.52%)
6. Calgary (default)

In your defense today it sounded like cheering... earlier games were definitely boos.

I do not agree. And even if previous games weren't boos, it didn'T stopped the B fans from *still* claiming we booed it.

I'm sure there were some boos being shouted by a few fools, but it's hard to tell behind the national anthem itself. I think it was a GO HABS GO chant and not booing, at least this is what I was telling the buddies I was watching the game with.

It's a little funny and pretty disrespectful that rival fans immediately say that it was booing, a pretty brutal stereotype that gets put on the Montreal crowd. If it really was booing, I am almost positive that CBC and Don Cherry would have made a huge deal about it during the intermissions.

Remember Komi and Higgins are Americans. Make no sense to boo a nationality. Same for people booing the Canadian national anthem when half the players on their team are Canadians.

I think they should get Higgins and Komisarek to ask the crowd to sing along with the anthem. Maybe even join in. It would remind everyone we've got some Americans who are bleeding bleu blanc rouge.

The only thing that upsets me is that I'm gearing up to watch a hockey game and they're doing this political thing.

Otherwise, I see nothing wrong in booing George Bush and the people who voted for him, which is what they were doing if in fact they were booing. Dude just killed a million people for oil profits.

people want to hear boos so they can come here and ***** about it or find something to rally around like the Bruins fans did. out of 21,273 people theres always a few idiots booing but the vast majority are just chanting or making noise.

Honestly i dont care about Booing anthem or the States anymore..
They're overly annoying with their gay ''USA..USA..USA'' chant..this dumb ''patriotic'' chant in a freaking hockey game or any competitive sport.

It seems the States have become even more patriotic than before and have gotten dumber in the process.
Two wrongs do not make a right.

Good point indeed.

Very VERY VERY stupid, childish and juvenile what some sectors of the bell centre did last night...Shows complete lack of utter class and represents the city in a very poor light..very poor form. I was furious!

Did not appreciate the f you boston chants on the streets either...Some people need to grow up.

First of all, booing an anthem is just bad manners

However, after listening to the anthems tonite I was thinking two things:

I don't hear any booing. At least if there was you had to have a bit of an imagination to be convinced of it.

The other thing was that no matter what somebody was going to accuse the crowd of booing the anthem. Sure enough all these Bruins fans going on and on about booing the anthem

Give it a rest folks

I don't like the booing. In Buffalo we never boo O Canada when the legions of Leafs or Habs fans come for the games.

You don't want to hear Canadians boo the American anthem. Then don't play it in our country.Simple as that.

I was at 3 out of the 4 home games.

Yes, there was booing, but it was always just a small group of 4-5 guys who were really going at it. The rest of us were looking around, embarassed.

I heard no booing. However, I clearly heard in game 3 or 4 Bruins fans chanting "USA" to try and drown out our boos of Chara and chants of "Ole".

I think there might be more American born players on the Canadiens than the Bruins.

Okay.....we're playing an American team, so when the American anthem starts, idiots associate the playing of that anthem with the team we're playing against. So they are actually booing the opponent then the country, the president, their foreign policy or their position on same-sex marriage.

So people that are booing the anthem 'cause it's associated with our enemy are idiots. In Montreal, there are some idiots. We also had a proof of that after the game. We're not the perfect city faaaaar from it.

Now that this reality check has been done, can we go on?
