In the playoffs, teams can carry any number of players they want. So all the teams call up players from the AHL to act as reserve.
So, on top of the regular lineup and the "regular" scratches (Latendresse, Ryder, O'Byrne, Grabovski) you've also got a group of reserve players ready to play.
Amongst them, Yann Danis, Duncan Milroy, Corey Locke, Gregory Stewart, Pavel Valentenko, Brock Trotter and Ben Maxwell.
I'm missing one, I think. Or Maxwell wasn't called up, one or the other.
correct me if i'm wrong but don't you have to be in the roster lineup in order to play in the game....so technically if the two goalies get injured then a roster player or one of the coaching staff is only allowed to go in?
I remeber a couple of years ago the canadiens i believe had eric landry in the starting roster but instead he was in the pressbox and someone else took him over...a minute into the game the refs were informed and asked that player to leave the ice and (i think it was landry) had to suit up.

If a goalie is seriously injured or has to leave because of illness, the 3rd goalie can suit up.
Link to an article, I can't find anything anywhere
Theo has the flu, missed morning skate, tried to go, did not do very well, was pulled for Budaj, got dressed and went back to the hotel to do what people do when they have the flu, puke have diahrea and sleep.
For some reason HF boarders love to make a scandal out of a guy getting sick.
Oh yeah, and Tyler Weiman dressed and took his seat on the bench. Tyler is with the team as an emergency back up goalie and that is exactly the role he played.
I have to question Theo and the Av's for starting Theo in the first place.
We've all had a bad flu before and we all know it does not just go away, you usually need to sleep, get a ton of fluids and let it pass. If Theo was doing as bad as he was doing before the game I'm surprised he didn't let Buduj take the start since a healthy starter would give the team a better chance than a sick Theo.
Plus as Habs fans know from last year....a flu bug can spread like wild fire to other players.
Yup that's exactly what happened. Why would he start if he has the flu or did he get some accelerated version after letting in 4 goals on 16 shots (12 saves).
If he's back on Saturday and starting, it was a cover. If not, I still think he's horrible.
