"Ohhhh, I dunno Doc. Looked like a goal to me"

~Chico

He gets extra points from me for having a sick collection of sweaters from my understanding.

"I had a chance to trade that mask for a Terry Sawchuk sweater," Resch says. "I thought it was a pretty good deal. Then I lost track of it and I haven't been able to find it since. I would love to have it back. I'm trying to get the word out. So far, I haven't gotten one lead."
- Chico.

Man...id be pissed.

Man, that seems weird, but I'm relieved that you picked McDonald... You can PM me for details.

In today's headlines...

Flyers score another HHOFer
By Dickie Dunn

The Ottawa RCAF Flyers scooped a charter member of the Hockey Hall of Fame during Thursday's activity in the all-time draft.
Russell "Dubbie" Bowie, one of the origianl HHOF inductees in 1945, was selected by the Flyers with an early 21st round pick, previously acquired from the Detroit Eagles.
"He's probably the best player available," said Flyers co-GM God Bless Canada. "He's a terrific skater, a world-class stick-handler, and a defensively responsible player."
GBC said Bowie will be handling double duty, as both the team's 13th forward and seventh defenceman. Bowie played rover and centre during his career.
"He can play a scoring line role, or a defensive line role," said GBC.
There was temptation to put Bowie on the fourth line with Glen Skov and Bowie's Montreal Victorias teammate, Blair Russell, but they didn't want to play Bowie out of position.
Bowie scored an incredible 234 goals in 80 games as an amateur with the Montreal Victorias. He won a Stanley Cup in 1898.
"raleh's idea of getting Russell and Bowie proved to be a great idea. They're talented, they can fill multiple roles, they're hard workers, and they're amateurs. We're saving a lot of money. Even child labourers in China will make more money than Russell and Bowie."

With the extra cash we have from signing these two, I've decided to give GBC a raise as well as a few incentives, including a Milt Dunnell cup bonus.

Big fan of Jonsson. I had him every draft starting with MLD #6. Underrated because he played behind Potvin on those great Islander teams.

It was Ab or Balon when I picked. Good job.

Inglewood is pleased to select the versatile and extremely speedy LW:

John Sorrell

Named as the best skater of the 1930's by Ultimate Hockey:

The Thirties
Best Skater
Johnny Sorrell
, a speedster as well as an accomplished checker, was Detroit's most valuable player throughout much of the 1930s.

He was also a pretty good goal scorer, breaking the top 10 twice and coming as high as 5th in 1934.

I really like his playoff resume though. He lead the Red Wings in playoff scoring when they won the cup in 1936, and he followed up with a very nice performance again during their repeat in 1937. The following season he was traded to New York, and came up with 4 goals in 6 playoff games. He led his teams in playoff scoring in 1932 and 1933 as well.

To top it all off, he played on a line with Nels Stewart and Hooley Smith in NY, so it's a nice bonus to get them back on the same team again.

Man, there's one guy I would pick right away since pick 550, if it would somehow be relevant for the Wanderers to draft a center.

Regina selects a forward who can play any position. His offensive prowess will make him a valuable extra, no matter who gets injured. Big, good in the playoffs, and can score as well as make plays. 8 point-per-game seasons!

F Peter McNab.

First player I've ever selected twice!

IT WAS ABOUT Q!@*%)@%$@#*?$@*?$ TIME. Best C available since Hlinka was picked (okay, aside from Frederickson who's a wild card, and Dahlstrom if looking for a pure checker). Never mind the bad last season, and never mind the low overall numbers for a so-called offensive player - trap era gives just that. There isn't 500 ranks of difference between him and Adam Oates, never. Especially considering Weight has a surprisingly complete game.

About time. IMO, he goes too late in these because he's a modern coach, but I was seriously considering him as my head coach if I didn't get Sather.

He will serve as Pete Green's assistant. We drafted him more for his motivational tactics and ability to get guys to play their hardest at all times more than for the X's and O's. We'll let Pete handle that. We've spoken to Ted and he is fine with this and cited how earlier in the year he stepped aside to let another legendary coach take over the team (for a lil bit). We think his presence will be invaluable to a roster already chock full of character guys.

And with him you probably have one of the top-3 coaching tandems in the draft. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't mind having Nolan as a head coach even.
