Moog's a high-end back-up. In the top 10. But as good as Lehman. Lehman was a big star in the early years. One of the best from those great western leagues.

One thing about your back-up is you need him to be the ultimate team guy. With a format like this, you're back-up is a guy who was a star for a long time at a high level. You need a guy who can check the ego at the door, sit on the bench, and play cheerleader. Especially in the playoffs. Moog showed he can do that.

Lehman will play about 40 per cent of our games. Cheevers will play the rest. But once the playoffs start, Cheevers big-game, big-save mentality will get him the playing time.

I don't think Moog is good enough to be a No. 1. Great guy. Excellent goalie. But in an ATD? Goaltending's a liability if Moog's your No. 1. He won three Cups as a No. 1, and backstopped the Bruins to the 1990 Cup final. (He didn't play much in 88). He did play his way out of two cities with playoff performances (Boston in 1993 and Dallas in 1997) and his performance with Montreal against Buffalo in the 1998 playoffs was the main reason he decided to retire.
Fair enough, I just was looking for an assessment because there's another guy out there that I'm interested in, and I was thinking of possibly looking to trade Moog. But I'm more then happy with him as back-up to Holecek.

Thanks GBC.

Toppazzini is a penalty killer par excellence, Once held the record for short handed goals in a season. Also did duty as a point man on the power play. He will see a lot of ice-time with the Bisons. Looking for a couple more like him.

#6 - D Joe Simpson

Three time WCHL First Team All-Star
One time WCHL Second Team All-Star
57 goals, 42 assists in 113 WCHL games
8th all-time scorer in WCHL history as a defenceman

Quote:
Before he was sent overseas he captained the 1916 Allan Cup champions 61st Battalion team of Winnipeg ... Simpson was twice wounded in the war and was awarded the Military Medal for valour prior to returning home in February of 1919, discharged as a lieutenant ... He made amends for a poor showing in his rookie year by winning a Western Hockey League First Team All-Star berth in 1921-22. He was named to the First Team on three occasions and to the Second Team once. At the time, "Newsy" Lalonde called Simpson the greatest living hockey player ... "Bullet" Joe Simpson was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1962.

Simpson was a great skater, a defenceman whose end-to-end rushes wowed fans wherever he went. The nickname "Bullet Joe" was well deserved and his fame well understood by everyone who watched him play the game at another level than most.

#24 - RW Jim Peplinski

424 points in 711 NHL games
1467 penalty minutes over that same time
14 points and 107 PIMs during Calgary's '86 run to the Cup finals

Quote:
Over his nine seasons with the club, he established himself as a solid and consistent performer who missed only 21 games during that time, five of which were lost so that he could play in the Calgary Olympics in 1988. During most of his career as a Flame, he was a team leader, skating alongside his co-captain and linemate, Lanny McDonald. Together, they lead the Flames through the great battles of Alberta that were waged against their provincial rival, the Edmonton Oilers.

He built a reputation for leadership and was co-captain of the Flames when they won the Stanley Cup in 1989.

The Miners select

Harvey Pulford

Quote:
In 1901 he altered his style of play from merely flipping the puck out of his own end to carrying the puck up the ice toward the opposing team's net. During the period 1902 to 1905, Pulford captained the Ottawa Hockey Club, which came to be known as the Silver Seven. His partnership with Art Moore proved to be a formidable barrier to onrushing forwards. This team dominated the Canadian Amateur Hockey League and the Federal Amateur Hockey League while winning or defending the Stanley Cup several times between 1903 and 1905.

You're looking at him, though a 32 year old with over 10 years experience isn't much of a rookie.

I don't think it updates very well. Just go to the first page and use Control-F to bring up your browser's find function.

Wait, did Bucky ask to be skipped with that above post? Now that I re-read it, it kinda sounds like it, especially since he hasn't been back online, even though he obviously knows he's on the clock. That would mean you're up TC, if you're still around.

Bucky made a pick that was already selected so the draft moved on and TC selected Pulford. Sturm and Rick are on the clock.
