Serious question for Stan's perspective - if he thinks that what went on in this game should have been called an unsportsmanlike conduct, why did he not feel the same way about the Avery/Brodeur thing in game 3?

Well, he is coming from the stand point of the new rule being in affect NOW. It wasn't in affect when Avery did it.

exactly. it was a new rule added AFTER avery did the play. it should have been called here, it wasnt. Oh well.
Im more annoyed about the Crosby diving than anything else. You call him for those 2 dives there, odds are he doesnt dive the rest of this series. hes going to be diving all series long now that hes getting away with it.
I'm pretty sure the "Avery Rule" is specific to screening goaltenders - that wouldn't seem to apply to a stick in the face at a faceoff. Just sayin.
its interpreted as any play where a stick is held high without being a hockey play is called unsportsmanlike.
Either way, its a penalty, I think we can all agree on that. Meh, whatever, I dont really care, im not going to harp too much on this. MAF looked very beatable tonight, I think we still win this series. I like the way the Rangers react when they have their backs against the wall. I expect them to play much better in game 2.

I agree with that. All my *****ing and moaning aside...the Rangers gave this one away, and unfortunately, it'll come back to bite them in the butt when they lose this series.

Yeah Inferno I agree, however they could have left PITT potentially UP 2-0 instead of DOWN 2-0.

Ive always disliked Stan but here he is right.
Honestly, I think we come back from this game fired up. The whole worlds against us, and its just us vs everyone. the rangers play their best when they think they are the underdog. right now, i like our chances more than i did before the start of this series.
i wasnt sure we could score on MAF, but now that I know we can, I like our chances a whole lot more.
