Tarnstrom gone?

I did not see this posted anywhere.....

Dick Tarnstrom has signed to play in Sweden next year. He is probably gone from the NHL for good as well.

Why not, isn't that from whence he came? Ashes to ashes and whatnot.

To be honest, he really didn't impress me this year.

I wish him luck, but won't lose any sleep about it.

What exactly did we lose? If Tarnstrom played well, Howson looks like a genius. Curtis Glencross was not re-signing with our club this summer.

Losing Tarnstrom hurts much less with the fact that we have defenseman in the organization like Methot, Rome and Wilson looking like they are ready for full time NHL duty, Wilson especially.

I think Rome is more NHL ready than Wilson. I'd e willing to bet he makes the team next year and plays on the 3rd pairing. Wilson should be a solid call up for the inevitable injury to a regular defenseman.

I was emphasizing Wilson because he's more like Tarnstrom then the other two, a little more gifted offensively. But you're right about Rome, he looks like a solid 5-6.

Tarnstrom will not even be playing in the SEL. He've signed a contract with AIK in "Allsvenskan" which is the second highest tier in Sweden.

Why do you say Glencross would not re-sign? I didn't know that...

Yeah, the depth our this organization on the wings allowed Howson to take a gamble with tarnstrom, Glencross probably wasn't going to be resigned.

Well Tarnstrom did save some games for us. Not exactly sad he's gone tho. I loved Glencross up to his trade, but like others have said; he wasn't to be resigned.

GlenX is a UFA July 1st and be re-signed by Cbus if they want him.

Howson said as much when he traded him. I'm not sure where it was printed, but I'll try to find it.

The kid's got potential, but he is what he is, and even in Edmonton that is simply a solid 4th liner. When you have Boll, Murray, Malhotra, and all the prospects I'll spare mentioning, Glencross becomes expendable.

EDIT: This isn't a direct quote saying that he wouldn't sign in Columbus, but the closest thing alluding to the point after a few quick seconds of searching.

Glencross, by the way, is not an RFA, as reported in lots of media outlets. I've been assured by the Blue Jackets that he's a UFA this summer, because he hasn't played enough games in the early stages of his career. So, per the CBA, he gets a chance to test the waters as a UFA. Chances are he would have been drawn to Edmonton or Calgary. He spends his summers in Red Deer, Alberta.
