Based on what? A half a season of poor scoring where 1/3 of our offense was off the team?

Small sample size, but Okposo was a 1/2 point player a game last season.

Not to mention there is an offseason to go, and we will probably improve our offense

Point is that he is atleast a 40 point season next season if he plays atleast 3rd line minutes and plays atleast 80 games. I would take an avi bet with anyone on that

Its Okposo, not Okoposo.

I say 20G+21A=41 points

I suggest you stop looking for a fight because you're not going to get it.

Anyway, Okposo will register between 40 and 45 points next year.

How does this not qualify as trolling? Anyway...Okposo gets 14g+22A=36pts

He isn't even 20 yet. Based on his body makeup, his attititude, and his stats at all levels, there isn't really anything saying that he can't reach an all star level. However you are free to think what you want to think, and so is everyone else, so let's agree to disagree here

Well I don't know if he isn't capable of scoring 40+ points. I mean our offense will probably be much improved, and even with a crappy injuried offense last season, he put up 5 points in 9 games as a pure rookie(next season he will have a tad bit of previous NHL experience). I just don't see a reason he can't score 40+ next season, but to each their own I guess

There's nothing wrong with predicting Okposo gets 40 points or more, which is strong possibility depending on his center and playing time.

I have only seen Kyle for a few games, but he really, really impressed me in those games.

I'll go for a stretch and say 25 + 25 = 50 pts

I'd say 15 goals - 10 assists for 25 points.

He will play only around 60 games, because the Islanders will send him to the AHL in the middle of the season and recall him back in march.

- Okposo will most likely play top minutes.
- Okposo's nine games this season will be helpful going in to the next.
- Okposo playmaking ability is underated on these boards.
- Okposo's shoot is good enough to score a lot of goals, but he tends not to use it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18 + 31 = 49
(if healthy and without the addition of a top quality player on his line)

I agree with those numbers. In his 9 games Okposo looked like a playmaker first and scorer second. I actually thought he would be a perfect center as he's got nice vision and speed and can cover a lot of ice. Since the Isles already have a surplus of wingers(granted not a start in the group) I could see Okposo excelling in the center spot, a position he played alot of during his college career. The fact that the Isles have a glut of wingers and a lack of centers and you may see this scenario.Keeping him on the wing may be short-changing him a bit IMO but the Isles seem to like him there.

Having watched Okposo in 90% of his Gopher days, his play/production suffered the most as a centerman. He's a natural winger and always has been. Remember when Okposo was tearing it up as a freshmen and people were comparing his season to that of Parise and Vanek? That was when he was used on the wing and had a playmaking centerman to rely on. Once he was gone and Okposo then moved to pivot, his game suffered because he always tried one too many moves.

He needs a speedy centerman who can put the puck on his stick like he's always had... Toews (Shattuck), Lewis (Des Moines), Hirsch (Minnesota)...

You bring up an interesting point .Not having seen him as much as you have but in the 9 games on the Island, his moves and passing seemed to open up ice for his teammates which is exactly why i thought he'd be perfect for that playmaking center position the Isles lack.

I think he'll spend part, if not a majority, of next season in Bridge, and honestly I think that's best for his development (too raw). Despite the fact that NYI seems to be playing up this whole "future/prospect" card of late (they don't have many others frankly).

So his totals won't be all that high.

it was not so much his ability but his mind set at center. he tried to do everyting perfect. he is a high speed think on your feet kind of guy. at center he thought he had to slow the play down, or make sure his wings were involved. in the end he tried to hard, was way to unselfish and held the puck a lot longer than he should have. at the wing his options and time are limited. he shoots more or catches a guy breaking to the net for a tap in or one timer.

The Isles are an horrible team.

I'd expect Okposo to score 55-60 pts since he'll get a lot of ice time.

7g 9a=16pts in the Isles first 10 games of the 08-09 season as the Isles jump out of the gate with a 9-1 record.

Garth Snow feeling the need for a veteran to help the youth movement summarily trades Kyle Okposo to the Pens for Gary Roberts.

After all the Pens do need a little help in the skilled forward positions.

Okposo has dominated at every level hes played and is a superstar in waiting...I strongly believe he will surprise many in his first year in the NHL. Next season expect him to crack no less than 25 goals, and bring in around 60 points.
