Max Pacioretty With The Habs Next Season?

Max Pacioretty With The Habs Next Season?

La Presse has a good article about Pacioretty and the Habs (via Timmins) being in talks right now. It seems Pacioretty is tempted to go Pro as early as next season and is exploring all the options he has.

La Presse says the Max Pac could go the way that S.Kost did wich is getting used to pro hockey with the Hamilton Bull dogs and then make the jump to the NHL.

The rest is here:

The article says he could start next season in the AHL if he decides to go pro.

He shouldn't have any problem turning pro, he's not in the CHL. This is a surprise, though. I had assumed he'd spend next year in college and expect to make the US junior squad.

Still, if he's ready for the pros, go for it.

He'd complement the third line well, but the team would be chalk-full of youth at that point. I would love to see this guy play, though...

Though I guess I should stop calling guys like Higgins, Plekanec, etc. youth at this point. They're getting older.

He's not eligible for the 2009 WJC. He was born in november '88.

He would be basically doing the same thing Kyle Okposo did this season with the NY Islanders; leave college and go pro.

Darn right we do.

I think he is going to have a great campaign in Hamilton next year should he come over.

I have serious doubts that Patches makes the Habs next year. Not impossible, but I think it's far more likely he spends the year in Hamilton, if he decides to go pro.

That in itself is good news, IMO. If he could be NHL ready in 2-3 seasons that'd be great. He is one of the elements we need on this team, a guy who isn't afraid of high traffic areas and scores some goals!

he is only 20 in november, so i dont know if he can join hamilton before that...

I read the article, and it seems he is learning alot from his college trainer. i think he should do anohter year there and continue to work hard. it seems he still has some more to learn there, and i dont think he needs to be rushed.

give him another year to develop before he comes to the NHL, i think there are a couple other players the habs can use next season, tehre is no glaring hole for him. but if he can play in hamilton that could be nice

College players can join at any time.

As long as he continues to grow as a player and improve I have no issue with him turning pro.

I would bet that if Pac signs this summer, then he will see some games with the Habs at some point. I would expect him to see time in Hamilton as well but we'll see what happens with him this summer. I was really high on Kostitsyn while watching him at London and thought he was one of our top prospects but never did I think he would spend most of the year in the nhl, so I guess you never really know.

If it was reported correctly, seems to me that the kid wants to stay one more year. Seems that we will need to be pretty persuasive to bring him here.

Let's not expect him to have the same kind of season next year though. Both Kolarik and Porter, despite losing to the Marlies, showed some pretty good playoff performances already in the AHL.

Im looking foward to seeing this kid play. Power Fowards usually take more time to develop, like Latendresse. But i have a feeling he'll be a quicker learner than Guy.

I think the persuasion the kid is looking for is more $$$ on the signing bonus.

Throw enough money at them and he will sign.

Nah I don't think thats the case at all, he wants to be sure hes doing the right move.

If anything, he should call Ben Maxwell, because they are gonna play together next year.
