Realistically speaking, it'll likely be down to one of Luke Schenn, Cody Hodgson, Colin Wilson, or Mikkel Boedker. 3 of those 4 should be available at the pick.

Extremely small shot that Nikita Filatov or Alex Pietrangelo would fall, but I wouldn't bet against it.

Kyle Beach will probably last until 7th, and the only indications we've officially heard from the Leafs point to Beach as their possible guy. I don't share the opinion however.

As for who the Leafs should take, I think it's pretty subjectable. A solid argument can be made for pretty much everyone in the Top 10. I fully expect both Hodgson and Wilson to be available, and I still hold the opinion that Hodgson would be the right guy. Wilson has been growing on me recently however, I do wonder now if he's better cut out for us.

This is a reasoned and thoughtful analysis.

And, once again, I'm going to have to point out that debating whether you are going to take Wilson or Hodgson at 7 demonstrates how strong this draft can be. Those guys would have gone top five (maybe even top three) in some other drafts.

with the 7th pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft, the leafs are proud to select from the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League

Mikkel Boedker

What would be amazing is if one of the top four defensemen fell, but I'm not counting on that.

After the four defensemen, the guy I like the best is Colin Wilson. But I wouldn't be disappointed with Cody Hodgson. Filatov I could tolerate, but I'm not a huge fan.

I don't want Boedker.

It's all about Colin Wilson! I doubt Schenn will last until then.

I just don't want to see the leafs draft the next Robyn Regehr or Adam Foote at the #7 slot.

Too high to draft a defensive D-man even if he is a stud.

I want one of Luke Schenn, Cody Hodgson, or Nikita Filatov.

I doubt Filatov lasts pasts the Islanders, and Schenn lasts past the Jackets. Hodgson has Mike Richards written all over him, IMO, and I wouldn't be suprised if the Leafs take him at the 7th overall position. Boedker and Wilson are also bluechip forward prospects, that have star upside, but Wilson is the safest pick in this draft, IMO.

Either way, we are getting star-upside prospect, who would be a big piece of the puzzle.

It might be a possiblity. With Stamkos going to TB and LA/Lombardi likely to go off the board with Mubasa Kwanzibubu from Central Nigeria, there's a chance one of the big 4 will still be around.

After all, wasn't the accusation on the Toronto board that I was anti-Canadian, JUST BECAUSE I LIKE WILSON BETTER THAN HODGSON?

I should never have become a Toronto fan, I swear...irrationally thrown under the bus by some of my own fans (not you)...

HAHAHAHAHA

Oh man. The fact that it's entirely possible makes it even funnier.

Cody Hodgson FTW.

No we don't! Especially if there are forwards like Hodgson, Boedker and Wilson available.

If Filatov drops, he would be the best pick for the leafs. I'd be happy with Hodgson or Boedker aswell.

Same here, except I'm more even with Hodgson/Wilson, but I trust our scouts to make the right decision.

He's something the Leafs don't have at all. (Vorobiev isn't coming over) I'd take him.

I would prefer to see them draft Luke Schenn. What I'd really like is for the to draft any of the guys who are available with a 'consensus' ranking of between 5 & 10. As long as they don't go off the board for the pick I'll be happy.

And I am really hoping they don't trade the pick for another goalie.
