If you pass on Schenn at #7, you deserve to not win a cup for another 40 years!!

Kyle Beach will probably last until 7th, and the only indications we've officially heard from the Leafs point to Beach as their possible guy. I don't share the opinion however.

As for who the Leafs should take, I think it's pretty subjectable. A solid argument can be made for pretty much everyone in the Top 10. I fully expect both Hodgson and Wilson to be available, and I still hold the opinion that Hodgson would be the right guy. Wilson has been growing on me recently however, I do wonder now if he's better cut out for us.

This sums things about pretty nicely...I find it hard to imagine 4 of the top 6 draft defensemen. I know you gotta go BPA but when the talent is so close teams can go start addressing needs. I think Schenn falls to us, otherwise it's Hodgeson.

Of the players likely to still be around at 7, I would take Schenn or Wilson for Toronto. I think these two players are very safe bets to become excellent players in the NHL, and I think that's what Toronto needs. I think there is a decent chance that Boedker or Hodgson (or both) could bust in the NHL, but I really don't think Wilson or Schenn will.

am i the only person on this forum who thinks at 7, CODY HODGSON IS OVER RATED ?

BOEDKER IS THE SAFE PICK AT 7TH
AND WILL DO MORE IN HIS NHL CAREER THAN CODY H.

The leafs have to take one of the big 4 defenseman if there available at #7 which is doubtful right now. Hodgson would be the next guy I would take if the 4 big d-men are gone.

It has to between Colin Wilson and Cody Hodson. They need somwone to replace Mats Sundin for the future. But i would think it will be a wiser choise to draft a defenceman, but i don't think Doughty, Bogiasan, Schenn, or Petieranglo will fall to them.

Beach

Definitely no to Beach.
This is an important pick for this franchise. The knocks on Beach are very true and present way more of a risk than the Leafs need to be taking at this point. Maybe if we're picking mid-1st.

I'd tend to shy away from Schenn as well for the same reasons another poster mentioned. While a safer pick, his upside isn't what I'd feel comfortable using a high pick on unless all that's left are Beach-ish players.

I was just thinking about somwthing. Toronto needs defence more thean offence. That is the way one builds a team right, from goalie going forward. Toronto has Pogge in net, so i think they will draft defence, but the chances of the top 4 being there are slim. So do you think toronto will trade down alittle to get an extra pick and draft a defencman or will they chose one of the top forwards at their position?

trading down to lets say 15 and picking up Del Zotto with an exrta second round might look good for Toronto.

Colin Wilson: size, skill, bloodlines, work ethic.

All of them much needed qualities on the Leafs.

No, you're definitely not. I think many Leaf fans overrate him and I am just not a fan. I think we can do better with our pick. Ideally, I want the Leafs to draft one of the four D-men but I think we may have to trade up for that to happen. I would do it though because I really think we should go in the direction of defense this year. However, I'm also a big fan of Mikkel Boedker; he's my favourite forward in this draft.

False.

Stated this over and over, but we have no where near the depth to pick based on need. We need help at every single position, and should pick the BPA regardless of what position he plays.

How can you be so sure?! I wish I could be as positive as you about that. Everyone seems to still think that Columbus will take him but I still have hope!

sorry about that, i am not a leafs fan so i am not sure want they exactly need. in my opinion, i think that they should go in the direction of defence to protect Pogge. What do you think of trade down to pick up Del Zotto and pick up maybe another second round pick?

To me, this is a wise choice, but it may not be for the leafs fans and the leafs front office.

Hodgson just seems like Brule to me. Just a gut feeling. I guess that may be flattering, assuming that the team who drafts him doesnt ruin him.

I'd like to see Columbus pass him, and then the Leafs pass him, so he can fall right into the lap of my Phoenix Coyotes.

Not surprised your touting his horn, Boedker isn't a safe pick. To think that shows how much of a homer you are. I've been watching Boedker in the playoffs, and aside from his speed, he isn't that impressive.

Brule is a much better skater, plays with more edge and has a ton of talent. He was rushed by an incredibly stupid organization in Columbus.
