For the Flames Langkow played with Sillinger in Phoenix in 2003-04.

Chicago - Mike Sillinger played with Marian Hossa on the Senators for part of the 2000-2001 season, and also with Jassen Cullimore for some games with the Vancouver Canucks from 1995-1997.

Ray Whitney played with Sillinger in Columbus and also for Carolina last season, so we just need to list players who debuted this year.

Carolina:
Jeff Skinner
Zac Dalpe

Miroslav Satan played with Sillinger on the Islanders and also for Boston last season, so we just need to list players who debuted this year.

Boston:
Tyler Seguin
Jordan Caron

So that makes the entire list of current players outside Two Degrees of Mike Sillinger:
  • Jeff Skinner (CAR)
  • Zac Dalpe (CAR)
  • Tyler Seguin (BOS)
  • Jordan Caron (BOS)

Sillinger was on the same team as Mark Streit (2008-09 Islanders)
Streit was on the same team as Michael Ryder (2005-06 Canadiens)

takes care of everybody but the rookies....c'mon trade deadline, Boston needs a veteran!

No, because Ryder is 2 degrees separation. His teammates would be the third degree.
Satan covers the Bruins last season, however (as he is 1st degree of separation).

Really sucks that Rich Peverley missed Sillinger by a year in Nashville, otherwise the Boston youngs would be taken care of.

Did Recchi play with Sillinger in Philly in 98-99?

6 guys, that's it?

so 99% of the NHL is within 2 degrees of mike sillinger, and 100% is within 3 degrees.

that's insane.

Even closer, Dennis Wideman played with Sillinger and Boston traded him before the draft.

Sadly, no - Recchi was with Montreal til around the deadline when he was dealt to Philly. Sillinger was with the Flyers for the first 25 games, then dealt to Tampa.

Marc-Andre Bergeron has played on six NHL teams and is 30. He may eventually overtake Sillinger (who he is one degree from himself), especially considering MAB's time with four different AHL affiliates, two QMJHL teams, an NAHL team and ten games with an Elitserien club.

1 Degree:

Anaheim: Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne, Marchant, Hiller, Blake, Ryan, Lapierre, Chipchura, Sutton
Atlanta: Ron Hainsey, Fred Meyer
Boston: Michael Ryder
Buffalo: Jason Pominville, Rob Niedermayer
Calgary: Steve Staios, Tim Jackman
Carolina: Ryan Carter (will play)
Chicago: Fernando Pisani, John Scott
Colorado: Ryan O'Byrne
Columbus: Garon, Moreau, Hejda, Pahlsson
Dallas: Ribeiro, Woywitka, Petersen, Sutherby
Detroit: Drew Miller, Todd Bertuzzi
Edmonton: Horcoff, Hemsky, Gilbert, Stortini, Jacques, Foster
Florida: Marty Reasoner, Radek Dvorak
LAK: Jarret Stoll, Ryan Smyth, Matt Greene
Minnesota: Koivu, Bouchard, Miettinen, Brunette, Zidlicky, Burns, Sheppard, Clutterbuck, Schultz, Gillies, Harding, Backstrom
Montreal: Price, Gomez, Cammalleri, Gionta, Markov, A. Kostistyn, Gill, Gorges, Pouliot, Plekanec, Spacek, Moen, Desharnais, Subban, Pyatt, Weber, Darche, Pacioretty
Nashville: Sergei Kostitsyn
NYI: Schremp, Hunter, Martinek, Nielsen, DiPietro, Comeau, Gervais, Okposo, Weight, Hillen, Sim
New Jersey: NONE
NYR: Gaborik, Fedotenko, Boogaard
Ottawa: Campoli, Phillips (Brynas, 04-05)
Philadelphia: O'Donnell, Pronger, Timonen (Brynas, 04-05)
Phoenix: Vrbata, Ebbett, Bryzgalov, Belanger
Pittsburgh: Kunitz, Dupuis, Michalek, Asham, Comrie
San Jose: Kent Huskins
St. Louis: Conklin, Winchester, McDonald, D'Agostini, Halak
Tampa Bay: Entire team
Toronto: Mike Komisarek, Francois Beauchemin, Joffrey Lupul
Vancouver: Alexandre Burrows, Raffi Torres, Jeff Tambellini
Washington: Chimera, Poti, Backstrom (Brynas, 04-05)

Here's hoping the Devils trade or claim for somebody on the above list. I'm probably missing a handful; if anyone sees a player I'm missing, let me know.

I just started to do the research for current Ducks. Maybe some rookies who didn't play with Pronger, could fit.
The first on the list was Jason Blake

edit: Selanne played with him too, so nevermind.

How about dealing Blake to Boston or Carolina to cover their youngsters?
Blake for Recchi?

My favorite part about this thread is that anyone who is 2 away from Mike Sillinger falls into the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
