Giguere signing an NFL deal may have affected the Als interest. It's not rare for a team to select a guy who has signed down south, but I guess they wanted a guy who could come to camp this year.

Make sense a lot, in this morning newspaper Popp said he wanted to look for the future instead of immediate "needs".. so Gigučre being signed with the Colts, doesn't help our future

I assume that you mean Le Journal or La Presse ? Popp seeems to be very thin skinned these days and won't talk to the Gazette. I'm a bit surprised Smith has let him get away with this for this long, unless he's letting him dig himself a bit deeper ?

It was in La Presse, they also talk about the forfeit first round pick that went to Hamilton

here's the link http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20...009/CPSPORTS03

MOntreal forfeited their pick because they were over the salary cap... And I played football with Sam Giguere for a few years in CEGEP

My two favorite football teams (Als and Pats) were both forced to give up their firsts in the same year. The irony...

I agree with Vercheval though. I don't think picking Emry is that much of a problem. That kid seems to be a great athlete a canadian secondary is pretty rare and if he ever becomes a regular, we will be able to put americans in other key positions which will give us an advantage.

The problem is losing the other pick for a stupidity. If Gainey would have done that, we would be asking for his resignation on the spot. Popp would have been able to pick Giguere with his 2nd pick, not waiting for him that much but would still be available if the NFL is not for him.

Again, losing a pick for that is pretty stupid....
