OT - Roadtrip pictures (Also, a sign about beating Philly!)

The sign will come in a bit, I have to upload the videos...but here are a couple of pictures.

A tablecloth in an Albany rest stop (don't worry, we didn't get it dirty)

We weren't alone at the rest stop. We actually had a big "GO HABS GO!" chant going. Onlookers were confused. (We didn't go with the bus, they joined us at the place 20 minutes after we got there)

Again, we weren't with these people, but a carflag en route

We went through a couple of these...

And decided to show off our colours to everyone we saw with PA license plates in NY, and NJ.

Our view from the parking lot. Yes, we parked two stadiums away from Wachovia Center. We didn't want the Flyer fans to see our Quebec plate.

Hey, look who we met outside of Wachovia!

Showing off our stuff before the game. Didn't dare do it inside the building, though.

All Hab fans stuck together before entering the building

Having fun right before going inside

Right outside our section

Our view

I sent a message of "TRICOLORE JUSQU'AU BOUT!" but it didn't make it to the screen.

Why don't we have ice girls in Montreal? They were HOT!

We passed by so many of these damned toll booths! Not so bad on the way there, but on the way back... about 8 of them. WOW.

I had been awake for about 24 hours...

We set up my ipod on the dash, and hooked it up to the car's speakers. We had our own little theatre system. Luckily Superbad ended just minutes before the battery died.

Who's that old guy with the tie and what song is that?

Tired as hell too, but if it isn't obvious for me I guess other people will want to know.

Dany Dubé, and "Believe" by Journey.

Another fun video! This is us driving around Philly pre-game...

Sounds like you guys had a really good time, despite the outcome of the game. I hope you enjoyed Philly - it's the only place I like more than Montreal, and I think the two cities have a lot in common.

Ha, didn't see the Ole! video before. Like five years ago I was at an academic competition in Montreal, and there was a fabulous party at the Molson Brewery, and near the end of the night a bunch of very drunk and embarassingly obnoxious UPenn students started alternating between "Ole Ole Ole" and "USA USA USA."

Awesome that you guys brought the obnoxious Ole-ing back to Philly.

Hey! I went to Penn and I'm a drunk. Don't paint us all with such a wide brush. Actually, I was on the Academic Competition team in high school, as well.

Other than the attitude of 90% of the Flyer fans, we had a blast.

Ha! This was collegiate debate. And I've got nothing against Penn - spent a great two years working and studying on campus and ended up with a Master's Degree.

I wouldn't mind football season. As a Jets' fan, I'd never expect my team to have a chance, and I deserve to be beat up for liking such a ****** team.

Love the 'ish' on the end of that.

Lots to compare - colonial cities, lots of important history, fabulous parks and museums, quirky and fun local culture. Economically lots of shipping, many excellent universities. Arts and entertainment people out on the streets at all hours, new and different restaurants. Residentially many varied neighborhoods some very very old. That's the main thing for me - Montreal has kept its European feel more than maybe any big city in NA, and while Philadelphia is very European for a US city, well, US cities have a bad habit of bulldozing their best neighborhoods.

The thing about Philly is that the city is still on its way up and somewhat fragmented, so you have to really spend time exploring it in order to appreciate all of this.

And, you know, I really haven't spent enough time doing that in Montreal yet. Only, let's see, maybe three weeks total?

I've heard! I can't really afford to take a trip there straight away, but I want to use my parents place in Montreal as a basecamp and make a loooong day trip. Maybe next year. :/

To be wearing tight spandex and sweeping up snow? That's pretty degrading, I hope they at least get paid.
