Fantasy Question: Heatley

I need some help from the Thrashers fans. I have the chance to acquire Heatley in a trade and was wondering how he has recovered. Not getting the chance to watch him play, I need to know if his injuries have affected his play and if you think his numbers will rebound to or close to his rookie year.

Looking at the numbers he's put up so far, I'd assume he's just rusty from the time off. Without seeing him play, it's hard to make that a decision on how he's been playing.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hard to know how many he'll score this year. The best I can tell you is that I picked him up off waivers back in November or so and kept him on my IR. I've now activated him and am not going to trade him. Heater at 75% is still better than most players at 100%.

Yes in a keeper league if you are getting a good deal. He will still probably rebound, but with the way the rest of the team is playing I'd say he is a poor short-term solution. He'll steadily get better the rest of the season, but his +/- could offset whatever he manages to put up in points. I wouldn't expect more than 10 or so points in the final few games this season, and that is being very optimistic.

But if you are making the acquisition for future seasons then I would trade for him now while his value is relatively low. I managed to pluck him off of waivers too.
