I just read this off of forecaster.ca
It will be interesting to see if he cracks the lineup
- Reports out of Nashville suggest that Swedish winger Patric Hornqvist will be joining the Nashville Predators in 2009. The Preds chose Hornqvist 230th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Hornqvist is described as a crafty winger, who makes up for a lack of speed with a keen nose for the net. His skills were certainly on display in Sweden's 6-5 win over upstart Belarus on Saturday, during which he netted two goals.

He's coming this season, and is expected to challenge for a roster spot. I doubt he makes the roster in anything other than a top six role (the Preds have plenty of 3rd/4th line forwards). Don't be surprised if he starts the season in Milwaukee though (like Radulov did in '06-'07).
Semi-offtopic but WHC-related and it's a bit late to start a dedicated thread for it: Pihlström has been absolutely fantastic for Finland! Always at full speed, creating havoc, hitting everything that moves.
Too bad he hasn't been given more icetime, he has really earned it.

he was one of my favorite players during preseason. i was surprised he didn't get called up more often
Hornqvist scored 1-0 for Sweden against the Czechs. The game is still being played. But 6 goals so far for Hornqvist in the Worlds. That's really good.

I can't wait to get this kid into the lineup next year!
Don't you mean finally makes the big squad after spending most of the year in Milwaukee, only to find himself buried on a line with Fiddler and Ortmeyer?
