Lineup for Game 5 Sunday (merged)

What do you guys think?

Everyone looked totally in sync tonight, with the exception of Gomez who was somewhat quiet. As much as I don't like Prucha he had some decent shifts.

Betts was out, but our PK played most satisfactorily. Do we keep him out, or put him in at risk of upsetting the chemistry? I liked the way Strudwick played also (10 mins)

Wow, we must of saw completely different games.

Gomez, Callahan, and Strudwick were all terrible. Absolutely terrible.

Callahan's worst game of the PO's along with Gomez, and Strudwick was ****ing ridiculously horrendous, couldn't even make the simple play.

Go with the goods and put Malik in. Get Hollweg the **** out of there and put Korpedo in. Keep Prucha in.

Prucha played well. I'd take Straka off the top line, he's simply missed too many chances. Give Prucha or even Shanny a chance to bury those chances from the slot.

And scratch Hollweg and give Korpedo a shot, for the 3 minutes he played, should at least give it to somebody who won't be a liability.

Sit Hollweg, dress Hutchinson as a 7th defenseman just for the pp, and have him run the point on the PP.

2/7 is very misleading, we scored one pretty soft goal, and 1 empty netter, and other than that had a pathetic looking power play that couldnt do crap.

have gomez and dubi double shift every once in a while on the 4th line.

Just because Hutchinson ran a point on an AHL team doesn't mean he'd be able to do it against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

However, at this point I'm willing to try anything to get that thing going with at least chances.

Can he possibly be worse than Fedor Tyutin or Michal Rozsival?

I don't think Korpedo should and/or will get a look in this series. I thought that Drury was mediocre, but the Versus crew was raving about him, and he was playing hurt, so...

Toots has looked shaky this playoff series, but Rozy's stood up Crosby at least a handful of times and hasn't really done a bad job, def one of our top 3 D-Men this playoff series (I'd put Staal, Mara, and Rozy as our top 3, not in any specific order)

Plus Game 5 is on Sunday not Saturday!

I'd say you have to keep Prucha in, he looked so energized and was doing great things on the ice tonight, I for one (admittedly a huge fan) really wanted him to put one in the back of the net tonight to really show his true worth. His effort did that and hope he buries one (or more) on Sunday

im talking about running the point on the PP.

i would sit Hollweg and have Hutch there strictly to run the PP, not take normal shifts.

Lineup for Game 5 Saturday

I was at the last two games. Great atmosphere and wondeful energy by our fans. However, our supposed strength in the playoffs, centers, defense, goaltending have generally not been there. Henrik gets a pass since many of the goals were not his fault which leads me to the thread title.
Although we won, the defense was NOT GOOD. Girardi and Tyutin were bad. Strudwick was continually beaten to the outside, Backman should never see the light of day on defense. The thread's favorite whipping boy, Malik, needs to play. For all his faults, he does play a positionally sound game and his outlet passes will help the counter attack, especially getting Gomez AND drury up ice. To have the series return home, Henrik needs to be Henrik and Gomez and Drury need to step up. Malik will provide some of the assistance. What say you??

I say he's rusty and slow. But he is experienced. Weve see big games from him....but he is slow. Hate to see him in a foot race with any of the Pens

Make that 2 votes for rusty and slow. At this point, he's only a Strudwick replacement anyway, and I thought Struds did what he needed to do last night.

Now if you wanna talk about bringing Backman back in to replace Tyutin or Girardi, I think that's a fair request. I think a game off will have been good for Backman and would be just as good for either of those 2 as well.

If Malik had performed like Backman or Tyutin has in this series the crowd would have been merciless in their booing of him but then again even when he plays well there are fans that will boo him. In any case, unless a couple of defensemen get hurt we will never see Malik here again.

I wonder who the whipping boy will be next year because we know there will be one. Most likely Backman, if he is here.

Is Malik even with the team? I haven't seen him anywhere, usually when they show the team going into the lockerroom at the end you can see the guys who didn't dress in there to congratulate them. I feel like he's pulled a Kevin Weekes, where he's on the roster, but you aren't going to see him around the rink ever again.

Staal was impressive on the PP....very impressive. He was looking to shoot, looking to get involved, not just covering the point...i mean, you're giving the guy his first regular minutes on the pp in a do or die situation...maybe giving him some real time there earlier on would've made more sense...but keep him on

I thought Drury played an insane game. 20 mins, 1 assist, 65% on faceoffs, how much more could you want from someone who wasn't supposed to play? Surprised he didn't score a goal.
