He's not. Azzy was injury prone before this year, he'd suffered from both a high ankle sprain and a sports hernia. He's very small (listed at 5'8" but that might include his skates!), and not particularly fast. That having been said, his playing style resembles a terrier. He's small but he goes into high traffic areas to battle for the puck. He's also got great hockey sense. I'm hearing the Ducks are likely to draft him in June, probably between the 4th-7th rounds.
how come he wasn't drafted?
he's draft eligible isn't he?
looking at his numbers he looks like a 1st overall pick
on numbers youd think he'd be a 1st rounder...if you search hf for some previous threads on this guy me and a lot of other ohl followers will point this out to you.
-his skating is average for the ohl level, below average for the AHL/NHL...His skating is worse than Corey Locke's when he was in the OHL and Locke has struggled to progress to the NHL
-He is on an absolutely loaded team...The Rangers have an absolutely fabulous team with tons of top end talent
- he's not that great defensively, but i wont hold that to him since a lot of young guys his age arent great defensively
All in all if a team drafts him i would be surprised as ive compared him to the Donati brothers before and they have both struggled in the AHL/ECHL this season. I think he'll get a AHL look and if he impresses maybe a shot at the NHL down the road
