Thanks Guy - now I have something to listen to while watching this killer game between Canada and the US.

How high do you think Andrew MacWilliam will go?

North Dakota helps, but I'd be surprised if he's gone before the 3rd round.

Hey Guy, has the topic ever come up on making the entire Memorial Cup Tournament more available/accessible to the US audiences? I know that the games are available, for a fee, online (not sure if they are available to Canada only or not like CBC) but what about on US TV (NHL Network, Versus...dare I say ESPN)?

Someone told me the Memorial Cup was available on the NHL Network down there... not true?

That interview made me want the Oilers to grab Colborne even more. It sounds like the guy knows what he needs to work on and will get more physical and stronger as he gets used to his taller body.

Don't know. The NHL network isn't available on many cable/satellite companies in the US.

Hey Guy, just wondering if you have any information on John Carlson. I've read the Entry Draft page and it says he likes to model his game after Scott Stevens. Just wondering if he can hit like him or not. Also who would you say is the best checker in the draft?

I'm not a scout and he hasn't come up in the discussions I've had with actual NHL scouts so I can't honestly answer your question. I haven't seen him play either.

I'm sure the HF members who "scout" can answer that for you though. If/when he comes up in my brain picking talks and I get some info I can pass on to you I will.

Teubert certainly is a checker though, so is Beach and you can hear in the interview how much both of them love to deliver bombs.

Yea I'm really high on Teubert but I think he may be gone before our pick. As well I've heard on here that Beach is a bit of a headcase, not sure if the rumors are true or not.

While Carlson's hitting is not particularly outstanding, he's absolutely a consistent physical player with some special skill. An open-ice hitter who can jump up into the play... what's not to like?

I'd say the best checker in the draft is Barrie Colt Stefan Della Rovere. He's undersized and thus I'm not sure he'll survive at the next level, but he's very, very fun to watch. He's at least bigger than Tootoo, and has posted similar numbers offensively at the same age.

I was thinking that Trukhno would be a good guy to use to trade up in the draft with. He doesn't have the upside that say Schremp does. That being said, he does have other traits that we may desire (good along the boards, tougher, a little bigger in size yet still having skill). I like him, but I think he could be a good trading chip to move up (along with some of our lesser and/or redundant dman prospects (Wild, Basaillon). I can't see them trading him for another pick altogether - only to upgrade a pick they already have.

Have verbal agreements with 2 probable top 10 picks to be on the show next week and are chasing another first rounder as well as a notable goalie. June is going to be a HUGE month.

Also, if you liked the Joe Colborne blogs - "Joe's Journey" - during the RBC Cup ( www.thepipelineshow.blogspot.com ) then you'll love what we're lining up for next month.

What's the point of interviewing a guy like Stamkos, there's like a .00000000000036% chance we draft him.

Remember...our show isn't all about the Oilers, it's about hockey prospects in general.

Cheers,

Deano

Further to Dean's point... Our show is 2 hours long, basically cut into 6 segments.

Going back to April 8th we have had 7 shows, a total of 42 segments. How many of the 42 segments have been interviews with Oilers? Two - Taylor Chorney and Sam Gagner.

Granted, the three shows prior to that had lots of Oiler content but I certainly don't think of us as an Oiler show. We're based in Edmonton so obviously there will be more Oilers than any other NHL team but we're way more diversified than you think.

Why Stamkos? The same reason we've had Beach, Colborne, Dalpe, Teubert, Allen, Meyers and Hodgson on in the last month. The same reason we're going to have a boat-load more of the class of 2008 as guest in the coming weeks. Those are the news makers right now.

We aim to please our audience and the people who listen to our show care about prospects from all NHL teams or leagues. And the audience doesn't come strictly from Edmonton. Or Canada. Or North America. It would be a diservice to concentrate too much on Oiler stuff and would, quite frankly, get boring.

I hope that makes sense in case Oi'll Say wasn't the only one wondering the same thing.

Will do... on the agenda tonight: Memorial Cup MVP Dustin Tokarski, the #1 rated player out of the NCAA this year Colin Wilson and a conversation I had a while ago with Mikkel Boedker - a sure fire top 10 pick.

Peter Loubardias with a Memorial Cup recap as well.

Boedker would be a great player to get in the draft to one day play with Hemsky. But it isn't happening unless we trade up.
