"Latendresse entend retenir les services d'un spécialiste en patinage afin d'accroître sa vitesse au cours de la saison estivale. Le directeur du recrutement et du développement des joueurs, Trevor Timmins, lui a recommandé un spécialiste afin de l'aider à parfaire cet aspect de son jeu."
Said that he isn't satisfy of his season , but that he worked on a lot of little details as Carbo asked him to do , and that's why is plus - minus is a lot better this season .
Wants to hire a skating coach this summer , to work his speed . Timmins gave him the name of an instructor .
The article also says that he will be a new father ...
Well he could stand to be a lot faster, that would give him so many chances of scoring since he has a great shot, cant be moved easily and is hard to knock off the puck.
Lets see Lats beat Grabo in a race at the next camp!
I don't care what other people say, I'm still very high on this kid. I still think he'll be very good one day. I like hows he's listening to management and slowly improving areas of his game. He has the will to improve himself, which I respect in any player.

I agree. I've never thought he was ineffective, but I've always had the distinct feeling that he hadn't been refined enough. I honestly think a faster Lats can be a big threat.
Plus ****ing BJ Axelsson can't call him a "fat ***" anymore.

Yeah i totally agree. I've noticed a lot of people saying he didn't improve this year and that we should trade him, but the truth he greatly improved his defence this year and I even noticed more speed from him by the end of the year.
He definitely needs to play on a line with an offensive center next year such as Koivu or possibly Grabs as when he has been given the chance on a scoring line he has produced. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets around 25 goals next year.
Fair enough, however atleast Gui has the funds to support a child/family. So congrats to him.
If Gui can make better use of his body and become a little bit quicker on his skates, I might actually jump on his bandwagon..
I hope he "can make better use of his body" by protecting the puck better along the boards in the offensive zone and to finally drive from the corner to the net with the puck. Also, if he can use his body on the break out and reduce the number of turnovers, I'd be really happy.
I believe in this kid and it makes me sad when I hear people wanting Guillaume to drop the gloves and throw his body all over the place...I don't think that's what he has to bring to this team.
He sounds like a good person and willing to learn, he should be okay.
Latendresse smoked Hatcher in a foot race in one of the games in the series. If he didn't that would not be a good sign. He still needs to get a lot faster. The hands are there. More speed and intensity and he could be a heckuva player.
Even at his current speed he could be an effective top 6 forward if he simply went to the net more and stayed there. For the most part he is a perimeter player which in my opinion is holding him back more than skating.
However i don't know whats going to be more difficult, improving his skating or his willingness to pay the price in front of the net.
He seems to be a good kid with a good attitude so time will tell.

I'm going to agree with you on this, 100%. He needs to work on his Holmstrom-ing.
I read it too and this is excellent news! Latendresse needs to work alot more on acceleration and turns then high speed though, but i have no doubt that with a skating coach all 3 with vastly improve.
And yes he was supose to take those lessons last year, but instead he trained hard with Livingston to lower his weight by 15 pounds witch is amaizing for an athlete. Step by step this kid will become something special. I predict 20 goals minimum next year for him
lol, I was thinking the same thing. I even re-checked the date on the article to make sure it was from this year.
Last summer he made power skating and lost weight . He was a bit faster ( or less slow should i say ) this season .
Doing power skating is one thing that help , but i think that Latendresse wants more than that . With a skating instructor , he will be able to correct all the bad things he's doing right now ; positioning , distance betwen the legs , longer of the steps ...
