i like that idea...
But you never know if the payers that you have tagerted in the 3rd round will still be available...

And that another Pacioretty is going to be Justin Jokinen or Zac Dalpe. Maybe they will both fall to us in the first two rounds.

Based on where we are picking and knowing our scouts.. Deschamps, Trivino and Jokinen are the three I'd see us picking from in the first round depending on availability.

Whitesnake wants us to trade up to 1st overall and select Danick Paquette.

Armchair scouts

we should trade our 1st round pick plus a few prospects(Fischer+Grabovski+Carle) and get Kyle Beach. Could you imagine him Pacioretty and S.Kostitsyn on the same line in a few years. Ouch!!

Sorry to break it for you, but a

1) 25th pick
2) Possible 1st round bust who is late in his development
3) 24 year-old weakling centerman with attitude problems
4) Unproven defense prospect with limited potential

will not net us a 10-15th pick in this year's draft.

I loved Beach earlier on in the season, but for the same reason as most of us and probably a lot of scouts, he's fallen.

Why is Fischer a possible bust and late in his development? He greatly improved this year compared to last year and when he was chosen Timmins declared he would be a project. I love how people are already labelling him a bust even though he just turned 20, once the guy adds on another 15-20 lbs of muscle he'll show that he was worth being a first rounder.

WE don't need a #1, we already have Price. He needs an experienced back up.

Ok ok, you win. I was trying to find the best way to describe him, as in he hasn't met certain expectations that were set for him when he was drafted. Look, I think he still might be able to make the NHL, although he needs to put on some more weight, and I know that there wasn't anyone that interesting around our draft position that year. Nevertheless, I still think the Canadiens expected him to mature a little faster. Of course, nobody could have predicted him getting sick the year after his draft, and losing like 9890812938 pounds as a result.

I know he made big improvements this year, and hopefully he will continue, but at this point, he hasn't exactly impressed anyone. I don't remember Timmins drafting him as a 'project', I thought he was regarded as a solid defensive prospect with limited offensive upsides. I remember the Habs were quite high on him (eventual top 4 D?). Even though he might one day reach that position, right now, all I can say is that quite a few other blue-line prospects have already passed him on the depth chart. I am thinking of Subban, Weber, Carle (?), and McDo. With Valentenko and the long-reach possibilities of Emelin&Korneev, Fischer will need to improve at a monster pace if he wants to carve his way up our system.

I'll admit I was too quick to call him a bust, but my point remains that Fischer does not have any trade value as of the present.

i would like to see a centre with skating and size in the first rd and a banging winger in the second rd personally , we have tremendous depth at defense(Mcdonough, weber, subban, fisher, carle) but only pacioretty expected to be an impact forward although guys like d'agostini and stewart as well as maxwell and white could make the club over the next few years.

i hope to get a guy like Kyle Beach(likely gone by our pick unless we move up), Colin wilson, greg nemizs or the huge joe colbourne

second rd maybe guys like shawn lalonde on d, james wright, jared staal or adam luke

i want my rj umberger, johan franzen, ryan getzlaf, mike richards, scott upshall late first rd pick or beyond that justs works works works for every inch of the ice, i want my brendan morrow but 3" taller

i love our euro skill but we need a guy like kyle beach to add to max pacioretty

after reading abit more, look for jokinen in the second rd
So Franzen and Holmstrom aren't Europeans? Seriously, you can find the type of player you're looking for outside of North America.

I gather from your post that you weren't an Angelo Esposito fan at the draft, right?

So I've seen Nicolas Deschamps mentioned a lot, seems intriguing. Who is he comparable to in the NHL? Seems a bit on the small side but I doubt he plays like it if you all want him.

Patrice Bergeron is a good comparison.

Deschamps is now 6ft1 and 173 lbs and growing. He was something like 5ft9 and 140 lbs two years ago.

New article on Aaron Ness, very very interesting.

I wouldn't mind or be surprised if Timmins selects a 3rd Mr.Hockey winner in a row. Ness looks like the real deal. Could he possibly turn in an Andrei Markov? Time will tell.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/10334/2008_prospects_aaron_ness/

One thing is sure. We'll need a new quarterback for our PP when Markov's gone.. and Ness looks very promising. He surely sounds more competent in his own zone than Del Zotto.

I like Colin Wilson for our 1st pick. He is the kind of guy we need at center. Yes im hoping we draft a Center in the 1st round. He could be available as i believe he is ranked 33rd by Central scouting.

but of course if there are better players available.......

There's no way he falls way down to the 25th pick. 0% chance.
