First off you can't just replace Stevens. As a Devils fan (I assume) you should know that.

Can't you replace from within the organisation?

Would the Devils be interested in Keith Carney or Ruslan Salei of the Ducks?Carney is as close as you can get to a superb stay at home defenseman like Stevens...the only difference is Carney will not go for the big hits.

Lets be realistic. How many years does Stevens have left? I wouldn't be surprised if this is his last year in the NHL. I think what the Devils should be looking for is a long-term solution, because Stevens is very much short-term.

Bob Boughner?

Cale Hulse? If the Coyotes fall out of the playoff picture.

Ruslan Salei?

How about Mariusz Czerkawski. True, he is not a defensemen and he is not particularly tough or physical. However, I was hoping you guys would take him as a personal favor to me.

Want Sean Brown for him?

The Devils should be looking into Smith, Hulse, Boughner or Carney. All of them are pretty good dmen and I'd like to see Lou acquire one of them.

Carney would be my first pick of the four with Smith second and Hulse/Boughner third.

ha...nice try...

Murray won't give up Carney without getting a highlevel prospect and a second rounder in return or a midlevel prospect and a first rounder.

Want to give a better offer?

I'm pretty sure he's a UFA this summer.

What are Murray's chances of re-signing him?

I think Carney has either a player-option or a team-option for next year...

Carney has stated he would like to stay in Anaheim (naturally)
and the team would definitely want to keep him around unless they find someone else to lead the defensive prescence of the Ducks. Carney has been suffering from nagging injuries all season, and his troubles have reflected in the Ducks fortunes.
