What a great little players you guys have with him. Cant believe he went undrafted, saw him played 2game at the wc and he's really fast/always in movement. Scored 2 goal againts canada today but what i loved about him his that he really enjoy the physical game. Your gm david poile said he wanted to put him on a line with nichols and tootoo next year lol . Also the tsn crew is raving about him on the broadcast

That is a line I've wanted to see for a while now...
Pihlstrom - Nichol - Tootoo
A line that will be loads of fun to watch and literally a pain to play against! All three players can fly around the rink, they hit everything that moves, and hopefully Pihlstrom and Tootoo on the wings can pop in 15 goals apiece.
Got to see him a ton this season with the Ads, he's great. Fast as hell, hits everything in sight, scores plenty, got tons of minutes, he'll be in the bigs for sure. Yes, can't believe this guy went undrafted

I think he's somewhat of a late bloomer, what I can remember when his draft year, he was nothing too special, you could see he was talented, yes, but I guess no-one really expected him to get to NHL, mostly because his size. The year in Milwaukee has definetely been good for him.
Pihlstrom (age 23) lead Finland's WC team with 5 goals along with 2 assists and +7
Mikko Koivu (age 25) had 4 goals and 5 assists and was +2
Selanne (age 37) had 3 goals and 4 assists and -4
Niko Kapanen (age 30) had 2 goals and 5 assists and was +
Pihlstrom could be more than a 3rd liner in the NHL! He has outstanding speed and loves to stick his nose into traffic; seems absolutely fearless!
Training camp and pre-season games should be very interesting!

Actually M.Koivu had 4 goals and 5 assists but nevertheless. Pihlström should be one heck of a player for you next year. That guy has so much speed and grit. Despite he played awesome physical hockey, I don't think that he took single penalty in WC this year.
We're all excited about Philstrom, but whose place is he going to take?
He seems to be a better player than Smithson, Ortmeyer, Fiddler, Hordichuk...possibly even Nichol and Tootoo...so if this is the case, then he'll displace one of them.
I would't waste him on checking line. He showed he can score so he should be at the 2nd line at least.
He would be the kind of player that you can put on a line with Tootoo and Nichol then look to him to move up the a top six spot when injuries hit. He's not good enough to displace one of Radu, Dumont, Sullivan, Erat, or Hornqvist put he can bang and score goals on our third line while waiting for his chance.

I'd keep Tootoo. I think he's finally learning what to do with the puck. Hordi is pretty much a waste of space.
Doesn't Smithson, Fiddler, et al have at least another year on their contracts?
but none are making so much money that it would hurt to either healthy scratch, waive or trade them for 6th round picks. If we don't jettison some of these excess bottom sixers in favor of those that actually have scoring ability, we're stuck in the same rut we were in this week.
And for the record, Hordy, who is a UFA, brings more than say Smithson or Ortmeyer, whose only worth comes as a PK forward(something we are not lacking in). Pihlstrom could bring more to the table than any of them, and unlike those guys...not look out of place in the top six, when needed.

Jettison is the most important word in that post. It's Poile's job to get rid of the dead weight one way or another.
