If we actually make a playoff run, I think we're going to do it at the expense of the Habs. The Isles look really good right now and most likely will only get better when Yashin and Parrish return. On the other hand, Montreal has been slipping lately. We have to win our games as well, though. So it probably doesn't matter how anyone else does.
Montreal is 11 point ahead of us, that's an awful lot to make up over 25 games. And they've won 3 of their last 4, 4 of their last 6. If that constitutes slipping, I'm not sure there's a word strong enough to describe what it is the Rangers have been doing, last night notwithstanding.
the Isles are pulling out points in situations the Rangers would not. Albeit only one points in each of the last two games, but each point distances themselves from the Rangers as it's one more point than the several blown opportunities the Rangers had. I had saying the Rangers need x points out of the next, but I don't see how they stay in it without getting 4-5 out of the next 6, and even with that you'd have to rely on the Isles not pulling in points away against PHX, and at home against PITT and LA. Easily, they can get 4-5 points out of those games and this season's done.
MTL's schedules a bit tougher with road games against Tampa and Ottawa coming up and home against Atlanta and Calgary, with longer-term looking like Toronto, Rangers, Ottawa and Boston, but making up 11 points is real, real tough.
Gotta take it one game at a time. Philly's a beatable team. Let's see which Rangers team shows up.
