It would be great for NJ to get Demitra, he would really help the devils get more often on the score sheet but in this case they would be giving too much because they don't have enought depht to afford this moove + it's kinda over-paying, if you take out Martin and the mid-pick it would look more fair imo... Also I don't know what's the salary of Demitra but I suppose it's around or above 6 millions and it's not the kinda moove Lou makes anyways...

No thanks! Devils don't need a mid-level prospect and a 4th round pick in 2004. That doesn't help this team at all in the short term which is what NJ needs most currently. Big time overpayment from NJ and it doesn't address all of the Devils team needs as much as I like Demitra. He's had himself his fair share of concussions already as well.
W/ Stevens out and the Devs allowing 3-4 goals a game, the last thing they need is Demitra I think. O'Neill wouldn't be a bad addition though.
What is the difference between O'neill and Demitra? At least Pav is producing this year and can raise the level of linemates. BTW, 6.5 is good for a 90 pt. producer and an elite forward.
Friesen is a solid top 6 forward, but nothing special. Rupp is a good cheap grinder. But I have never heard of nor seen Martin play (22 D man is about all of the info I have on him). The 1st rounder will be a very late pick.
Is this a fair trade? Only GMs could tell us. But I would like to know more about Martin, so any info from NJ fans would be appreciated.
I think this trade is imabalanced in New Joisey's favor because of that 1st. Friesen would thrive as a winger for Weight. As a Blues fan, I would be all over this deal.
Good, because Demitra is one of the best right wingers in the game, while friesen is not anywhere close to elite....this trade would never happen, as sweet lou hates the blues, but if it were, jersey would in fact, have to give something.

Friesen is a decent LW who costs 3 million less then Demitra while the blues have many money problems...not saying Friesen for Demitra is close to fair but adding Martin, Rupp and a 1st makes this trade crazy. There is noway you get both Martin and the 1st in this trade for Demitra.

I think Carl's main point is that Devils fans are acting as if the deal heavily favors the Devils when in fact it probably does only a little.

Hey. The Blues were the ones that broke the rules and tampered. Not the Devils.
The Blues certainly did some retarded stuff in the early 90's, but I will ALWAYS question the tampering ruling because the guy who was Steven's agent at the time was dead by the time they started the investigations.
