Andrei Kostitsyn won't leave!!!

GREAT NEWS! His agent said to Le Journal de Montréal that he don't want to leave Montreal and if he signs a new contract, he will bring his family here. Best news of the week!

Was there really anybody who thought otherwise?

Did some of you really get spooked by the freaking Edmonton Journal?

I was also pretty sure he was gonna stay, but it's great to have the confirmation from his agent! Lets sign this guy long term now!

Why would he leave anyways? The guy worked his butt off for 2 seasons in the minors to finally get a starting spot in Montreal and top 6 minutes.

Because he got a better offer in Russia says the Edmonton journal

This news is great and all but I think the thread title is misleading because, until he would have officially signed, there is no way to tell if he's staying for sure.

Saying he doesn't want to leave Montreal is not saying he won't leave Montreal.

Right now, it's still a very real possibility that he will leave Montreal.

How? His brother plays in the same team and he is gonna receive more money in the long term in the NHL then in the RSL. He worked hard in the minors to earn a spot with the canadiens and he finally got one. Instead of winning 60k in the AHL, he could have deciced to make more money in the RSL.

Obviously it's good news but I'll be happy only when he officially signs an extension with the Montreal Canadiens...

So it was leaked a while ago that the Russian league was ready to offer Andre a contract. Much has been written about this and a lot of it was negative if Andre took the Russian deal. Maybe just maybe, the word got back to Kostitsyn that it would cause a lot of problems if he went. So maybe he is now stating to everyone that as long as he gets a proper raise as per Hab standards he will resign and finally bring his family over to prove he is here to stay.
In any case, this is good news and it really is the proper way Andre should act by NOT turning his back on the Habs.

It's not just about money, the NHL is the best league in the world, and it's 100 times safer in Montreal than in Kazan, Russia. The mafia is very strong in russia right now, so being there with a big contract makes you either a member or a target.
