Since Mannheim lost Lewandowski to Russia, Hackert won't leave Mannheim before his contract expires (unless he gets an NHL-offer).

I saw him about four times last season and he did not impress me (to say the least). Despite his great numbers (in particular in the +/- department) he looked lazy and lethargic at (most) times and spent most of his time waiting at the opposition's blueline, but I admit that he has great hockey instincts.
IMO it's a sure bet, that he will evoke controversy around the Lions' fanbase.

the way hackert played last season, he shouldn't even get a DEL offer.

lewandowski is no big loss for mannheim.

it's not important how he looks on the ice, it's only important how much he produces.
i think he's a very good DELer and as long as he's no pain in the ass in the locker room, he's a good addition.
i'd take him over every new huskies player.

How long is Hackert's contract with Mannheim? I've also heard a lot of criticism of him during the World Championships...maybe the Lions don't want him back???

He is signed for another season and I am pretty sure, the Lions would take him back on any given day, if he was available.

There have been many rumors concerning a transfer fee the Eagles want to have in return... The salary of one full season - which was discussed in the media - might be too demanding for the lions.

I do not get any information about Schroeder. Neither officially nor via a source next to the team.

The Lions officially announced the signing of Thomas Ower (who was selected as the best goalie in the Oberliga [third league] last season) and the extension of Jeff Heerema both for one year.

The rumor is, that the Lions have signed a defender, who'll make his comeback in the DEL.
This description applies to both Jame Pollock and Yannick Tremblay. If the rumor turns out to be true, my reaction will vary from to depending on whether it is the former or the latter.

Assets
Is a towering presence on the blueline. Possesses a very hard shot from the point and solid offensive potential from the back end.

Flaws
Tends to look a little awkward on the ice, due to his 6-6 frame. Needs more work on the defensive aspects of the game. Must use his body more and develop a mean streak.

Career potential
No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

Regehr 2.0???

i don't think his offense is as good as regehr's. but in the DEL, biron could be a decent offensive defender and his defensive flaws shouldn't be that much of a problem. his 6'6 is impressive for a DEL player.

it's not a wow-signing, but very interesting. could really work out, just like most lions signings in the last 2-3 years.

I agree. I think Regehr is a much better player than Biron...

As always: I focus on his defensive downside and Snoil will take a look at his offensive skills...

Don't worry, I focus on the overall game of a player.
On a sidenote I will not get tired to mention, that Regehr's defensive game wasn't as bad as everybody wants it to make. *sigh*

Has to be Regehr 3.0, as Regehr 2.0 is already Richie's nichname.

As the Regehr hype now is over I have to admit that his defensive game was and is not as bad as I said in spring.
