This development of signings in September for the upcoming season sucks... German guys seem to get a huge premium only for their nationality.
****, I should not have played field hockey...

It is pretty dumb...if this is true, why would the Lions bother playing him or continue to try and develop him if he is leaving? I would just send him down....
This is not the way the DEL works. If he has signed yet he will continue to play for the Lions.
yes and no. would you want a player on your team that signed a contract with another team while the season was not even really started?
the timing of contract talks these days in the DEL is weird. what else than "it's not true" can a player say when being asked. and in spring he will confirm the change to another team.
I thought the 2 liga was similiar to AHL. Not exactly the same, but can't they sign or bring someone up to fill a spot? I obviously want him to stay, but I don't see the point of wasting development time for someone who is headed out of town.
You cannot fill spots easily with players under contract in minor leagues. You have to an negotiate explicit agreement with these teams for using their players in your roster even for a few games.
And mostly you have send down some of your 3rd and 4th liners for a few games as a return.
If you have an official affiliate in the minors it works better.
But you always have to use the "Förderlizenzsystem"

Not 100 percent sure but it really looks better than in September/October when the Wolfsburg rumor was all around.
With Danner re-signed and Wörle/Osterloh/Gawlik under contract until 2010 I am more optimistic that the German group stays together.
They get quality minutes in Frankfurt (wonder whether this would be the case in Mannheim/Berlin, too) and use them succesfully to bring energy into the game. The only drawback is that they do not produce as much as they give away too many quality chances.
