Ek: Rangers ALSO after Bouwmeester

Didn't see this posted yet.

He says nothing in the link. Only mentions it in the title. Mentions the cost to be 2 good draft picks, 2 players and a goalie prospect.

Too bad we could have traded picks with Prucha, Hossa, and Montoya

2 7th rounders, Hollweg Backman, and Lafleur.... that should do it.

realistically I would trade: 1st (08), 2nd (09), Girardi, Anisimov, Wiikman. Even throw in Prucha/Dawes

why? you do realize that Bouwmeester is a great defensemen who hasn't even reached his prime yet? The type of dman that everybody has been clamoring for.

He's Big at 6'4", physical, can QB the PP is still only 24 yrs old, has a laser of a shot, and probably will be a perennial All star

I'd do that in a heartbeat but chances are we're going to send a d-man back the other way.

1st 08, 2nd 09, Callahan, Backman, Wiikman. Absolute robbery but hey, I can dream.

<- isn't all for giving up prime assets for one player unless that players name is Nicklas Lidstrom, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin, etc......

so your trading an unproven goalie, a hurt unproven dman, and a 3rd liner w/ a couple draft picks for a 24yr old stud dman.

we have to be the cheapest fanbase. we want all the best players but won't part w/ anything of significance.

I'd have to imagine they'd want Sanguinetti as part of any return.

you're giving up one prime asset which is Anisimov. We are strong down center anyway. 2 picks. Wiikman doesn't mean crap to us unless Lundy gets injured. Girardi is an avg dman who I don't think will get much better than he already is.

you have to give a little to get. And this is not even close to giving up all our prime assets. we still have:

Sangs
Sauer
Cherry
Korps

not to mention:
Bourret
Byers
Moore
Hillier
Hagelin
Baranka (maybe)
Potter
Dupont
Pyatt
Jessiman (maybe)

and whoever else we might draft.

We aren't getting much for what we're giving. We're giving a 1st and 2nd round pick in a very deep draft, (projected to be one of the best in years.) One of our top defenseman in Girardi, an absolute stud prospect in Anisimov.. where does it end?

I will never ever be for breaking the future for things like this. They just don't make any sense. You build from within.

This draft is being totally overhyped, don't believe it.

Florida would want some guys they can throw out on the ice NOW, guys not named Prucha. Also they would want a top prospect, most likely a Dman.

actually the second rounder was for next years draft not this years. Bouwmeester is much better than Girardi and by the end of their careers will blow Girardi out of the water w/ his accomplishments. Just think of having a blueline in three years w/ your top 5 being Staal, Bouwmeester, Sangs, Sauer, Tyutin. That will be absolutely insane.

your right that it is alot to give up, but when a real good young (remember only 24) dman comes along, who has experience, and size, and offensive capabilities. You gotta give a try for it. Weren't you one of those who said build from the net out. Here he is.

You still have a core of:

Gomez, Drury, Dubinsky, Cherry, Korps, Cally, Dawes (not too shabby)

Bouwmeester, Staal, Sangs, Sauer, Tytuin (ridiculous)

Lundy

not too many holes you that you have, and they are all youngish. It's not like it would decimate us. We have been drafting spectacularly late in the draft and we could still have big surprises from

Bourret, Byers, Jessiman, Hillier, Hagelin, Dupont. + other picks.

lemme take a shot.

Tyutin (his cap hit is about 3 mil, he has decent value and can step in and play major minutes for them right now), two firsts, Dawes, Wiikman.

i'd want to get this deal done without giving up sanguinetti or cherp....J-bo isn't a stud just yet.

2 1sts i think is too much....like i stated above, if they want players who are proven with upside one 1st and late rounder will be what they get....2 1sts would put the organization back a few years

Pardon me if this has been covered, but why the hell would Florida trade one of their few young studs?
