Ossi Vaananen

If we don't land Orpik this summer I really want us to get a physical dman. I know Markov is one option but Vaananen could be a cheaper option giving us more $$ to spend on a winger. The times I seen him play he was a very physical player.

What do you guys think of him?

Vaananen played really well for Colorado in the NHL for a while. But have had consistencys and injury problems.

He came to the SEL and Europe this season not to retire from the NHL, but to regroup and play in a bigger role so that he could make a real comeback in the NHL.

He looked great in the start of the season. He is a big hitter and can play solid defensive hockey while beeing ok at moving the puck.

Then at the end of the season he started looing like sheit to be frank. And did so for Finland in the WCH's too...

He didn't dropp of by alittle either, he went from like beeing a Pronger type of D in the SEL to looking like out of place in the end of the season. I have no clue why he dropped off by so much.

Markov is not really an option, IMO. He is to much and not even in NA.Vananen would be nice, but im not so concerned about NYR going after him. If not Orpik, I guess I wouldnt mind see'ing Comodore.

I see him resigning in Detroit. If not, I'll gladly take him.

He's exactly what we need.

i think brad stuart is 3x the dman orpik. Orpik can hit, but thats it. Stuart is mobile, can hit, shoot, and pass perfect package

Sign Avery, Jagr, Ryder, Streit, Stuart, Mara(only if its not expensive), and Rolston

I see him signing there as well. Read an article a while back saying he was happy there and hoped to remain there for the rest of his career.

Surprised Slats didn't make a move for him at the deadline this year. Given what he was traded for, we could have had him and let St Louis keep Backman.

Stuart is an option

As for Markov it's not Andrei it's Danny Markov who was Tytuin's D partner at the Worlds

I would like that move actually but not sure if he is really tough, he is more offensive
