Vandy is a good stay at home defenseman who brings energy and toughness.

How much would you pay to have him on your team if the flames let him go?

A 5th, or 6th, or a Andrew Archer. Maybe both.

What country takes "Archer's" as currency?

I think Vandermeer will get 1.5-2 million on a 2 or 3 year deal... although I think it will be with Calgary

If Vandermeer makes more then a million dollars, he's got a great agent. He's a solid third pairing defenseman that used to fight. Wasn't Calgary using him as a forward towards the end of the year?

Vandermeer was actually a pleasant surprise in Calgary, and played pretty well with Phaneuf. He didn't have nearly as high expectations in Calgary playing behind Phaneuf and Regehr. Vandermeer did play some shifts at forward, but it was only the rare shift. He still played a majority of the time at defense. Keenan would throw him up at forward to add some toughness up front. Most of the time when he was lined up at forward he would drop the gloves at the drop of the puck.

What regular NHL defenseman with any experience doesn't make a million dollars now?... If Anders Erikson can get 1.5 million and Andrei Zyuzin can get 1.6 million... then 2 million for Vandermeer market value.

Used to fight? He fought quite a bit with the flames and did a decent job in all of them. I hope the flames resign him as he did a fine job as a 5/6 guy.

Agreed, he's the #5 dman in my books and he played very well. If any team can sign him for under 2m their getting a deal.

If John Stevens had the power, I could see him getting 15 yrs, 75 million from the Flyers !!!

I would not pay him to cut my grass.

IMO he was quite solid in Calgary, and I could see him getting 1.5-2 mil next season. As well I also hope Calgary resigns him as he was a good pairing with Phaneuf, and can play forward when we need some size up front.

Glad the Flyers sent him over to us.

Vandeermeer was the worst player on the Flyers roster all season.

If he's a solid third pairing guy like you suggest and he doesn't get atleast a million, he should fire his agent.

Exactly. The reason you Philly fans hate him is because he was a top-2 pairing, if I'm not mistaken. He had too much pressure thrown onto him.

Yup. If there was a scrapper/fighter on the other team, Keenan threw him out there to drop the gloves. He usually went right back to D after that.

If we can get Vandermeer signed for 1.5 to 2 million, I think it'd be a bargain.
