Jordan Staal

Can the Habs get him? He seems like a perfect fit. The Habs would have to give a lot but can he really stay on the 3rd line forever with Pittsburgh? I don't see Pittsburgh moving Malkin or Crosby.

He's the big strong center the Habs have been looking for.

If he ups his game and plays like the franchise player he was sought to be, then i'd b interested.

Pittsburgh would probably want roster players for him in return so we'd be taking a step back if we did acquire him as the asking price would be very high.

I'd offer Plekanec straight up for Staal. Plekanec will never command the $$$ Staal will, so it might be an interesting deal for the pens. If not then I'd offer Higgins + a pick.

Two first rounders and a B level prospect. This kid is a must have.

Let me get this straight, this guy nets 29G in his rookie year, playing behind Crosby and Malkin as the 3rd center.
He's 6'4 220lbs, only 19. He's already very versatile, being able to play on PP and be very effective on PK(lead the NHL for SHG in his rookie year).
He's had a somewhat ''disappointing'' season in terms of production but he is the center of the shutdown line and does a very good job.

This kid will be amazing, anybody saying ''Not interested'' about a kid with his potential and size, ESPECIALLY when what we've been wanting for years is a big center, doesn't know much about our needs..

Jordan Staal is already a very good two-way player in his 2nd year at the age of 19. To think how complete a player he will be when he gets to his prime seasons is scary.

I want him on the Canadiens roster anyday, and I'd give up an established player like Higgins or Plekanec for him.

That or they just don't know how complete a player/athlete Jordan is.

Or maybe they don't know that he's younger than any of our current players. The guy is still 19 years old and scored 29g as a 18 year old.

And when we're done our trade with the Pens, we can do one with the Sens or the Bruins (I'd say Leafs too, but who wants anything from there?)!

Go Wings!!!!

That deal sure will get you Stall, but not Staal.

No, the Habs can't get Jordan Staal--or any of his brothers either. Forget it.

Pittsburgh is not going to trade us Staal.

Yes he's a perfect fit, but it's not going to happen.

You really don't think so? Plekanec had 70 points this year while playing a very solid two-way game. Staal plays an even better defensive game but didn't come anywhere close to equalling his 30-goal year (which I see as an aberration instead of the norm). If anything I see Plekanec costing a lot more than Staal.

No way Plekanec + prospect or Higgins + prospect would be enough. To get Staal, you would have to include them both + prospect.

Plekanec + Higgins + O'Byrne

I agree, Jordan Staal would look great in a Habs uniform, but, if I had my choice, I would prefe Eric Staal only after Crosby, Ovechkin or Malkin).

Habs could have had Ryan Getzlaff but passed on him to take A. Kostitsyn!

And the Rangers could have had Brown, Bernier, Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Richards, Perry or Bergeron but passed on them to take Hugh Jessiman. We could have done a whole lot worse than Kostitsyn.

We could draft Jared this year so we actually CAN get one of his brothers... just not one of his good brothers.

Question: How many goals will Andrei have to score before people stop bringing up Getzlaf? Ill go with 45.
