He deserves it. A shame that he was traded from the cup-winning team...

Easy, Nich... Let's not turn this into one of THOSE types of boards where everyone jumps on people at the drop of a hat. I think that the poster was implying that they were reminded that Gartner was screwed out of winning the Cup and they put that out of their mind for so long...

Congrats Mike on some well-deserved appreciation from the Caps. As much as I liked Ulf Dahlen, the Rangers absolutely robbed the North Stars in that deal.

Hmmm...I wonder how many other players including Gartner have 1000 plus points, but more goals than assists?

Anyways, Congrats to Gartner, he was one of my oldest brothers favorite players seeing as I was too young to appreciate his time with the Rangers.

Excellent scorer, loved him when he was on our team. Unfortunately for him he was a Roger Nielson guy. Shame he never won the Cup.

I wouldn't take back the gartner for anderson trade...how do we know that the team still wins the cup?

gartner was a great cap and good ranger...

he isn't the only great player to miss out on a cup...

Absolutely hands down favorite player of all time. He was the guy whom I idolized as a young hockey player, the times when your out on the pond or playing street hockey acting like you ARE that player, Mike Gartner was that guy for me. His speed, uncanny sense for the net, and very good vision. 30 goal scorer for 15 consecutive years, along with not missing a single game in 8 consecutive seasons about sums it all up. It killed me when he was traded in 94 to Toronto and then watched as the Rangers went on to win the cup. Ill stop rambling now, but in my mind, truly one of the great hockey players in the NHL's long history.....

good for him. One of the most consistent goal scorers, ever... How many years in a row did he score 30 goals (every year of his NHL career except for the lockout and his last season)? And if it was full seasons how many would it have been? The guy knew how to stay healthy and put the puck in the net.

it is a shame he didn't win a Stanley Cup, but at the same time I wouldn't trade him back to the Rangers in March 1994 and see if the Rangers still win a Stanley Cup. I rather see the Rangers win it than Gartner, so in the end I'm quite happy about how that exchange ended.

The season can't start soon enough. There is alot of tension on the board right now. It is like the Lord of the Flies around here. Pretty soon Nich is gonna throw a rock at Jorts and the conch shell is gonna break and all hell will break loose.

Seriously, if you don't like his posts you don't have to read them. I don't see any reason why he was jumped on in this thread. And I find the only people who have to desgrade other people's hockey knowledge are lacking a lot of it themselves. So what he makes some crazy trade proposals.......I would rather read those than thread after thread of lines we will never see except for on your NHL 09 rosters.
