Smolinski isn't even worth half that.

Given the nature of today's sticks and their price, I think a few water bottles (a pack of 6 Powerade bottles) and bottles of disinfectant (10 one litter bottles of bleach) for flu season, from December to Februrary, would be what he is worth.

Draper was traded for a dollar back in 1993.

You can't even get gum for that nowadays. One of my favourite stories in hockey.

Please try to be a bit more constructive with your evaluative comments... Smolinski, as a person (and a hockey player, for that matter), is much more worthwhile....

Smolinski has the brain capacity of one hockey stick, so getting 5 for him would be a steal.

LMAO, All those years when we were all saying "They should trade that piece of **** for a bag of balls & some bats" Somebody actually did. Although those Maple bats are top notch, It's still hilarious.

Quoting Draper
What was it like to be traded for $1?
"It all worked out. I remember the first time I was told about that -- I think it was the '94 playoffs. To this day, I never found out if it was a Canadian dollar or an American dollar. That's the one looming question that I always have."

Awesome.

Wasn't John McDonald of the Jays traded to the Tigers for a player to be named later a couple of years ago. Detroit in the off season sent the Jays McDonald as the PTBNL, So McDonald was traded for himself.

Haha, in my baseball league a guy got traded into my team for a bag of balls. Other cool fact, we played against Gui Latendresse! He was playing first base, stood on the base the whole time practically- I believe he's good friends with players on that team.
