I want Leclaire to play 60 games next year as well, it's about time he played more than 50 or so games. Interesting though, if I'm correct, Hasek and Osgood spilt the regular season at 42 games a piece this year, and both gave up 84 goals-exactly! That's damn good tending spread around.

Oh ya, I forgot to mention they had the best defense known to mankind playing in front of them though...

The point is, we must have a winning backup regardless of the number games Leclaire plays, that should be something Howson and Hitchcock are thinking about. If not then god help us...

Definitions of those terms are as absolute as my assessments of these players - i.e., whatever I say they are.

A career point per game player. Get it done Howson.
Who needs 90 points? He's stupid.

Mason needs time in the AHL to adjust, Norrena is a ok but to be honest I'd be happy if he chose to go home and we picked up a guy like Hedberg or Conklin (or better guys than them) to fill in for Leclaire. Mason is a lock to make the team in the 2009-2010 season. I'd even consider bringing him up late next year if his play in the AHL indicates he can handle the pro pressure, but I'd prefer he stays out of the NHL for another full year.
I wouldn't mind trading a mid round draft pick for a backup not named Ray Emery. And there are a couple decent backups available via free agency. Aside from Hedberg and Conks, Wade Dubielewicz and Jocelyn Thibault would be the other guys to keep an eye on.

I agree with the thought.... I just mentioned those two due to free agency status and success in past history-but I agree with thought process.

Put a steel layered wall in front of the net. Holmstrom would still be called for goalie intereference...

I'd love to get Niitty. I think he's a very capable backup but he's definitely not a starter.

Smith = fat
Nitty = soft
Halak = perennial trade bait
Thomas = journeyman
Markenen = head case

Me too Niitty would be a good backup. Jussi had a decent season beased on the few games he got into last year, and Edmonton still has Roloson and Garon on the payroll right?? We just need someone who is serviceable and won't lose games all by himself, also we need 2whoever the backup goalie is to have goal support, but thats going to be an different challenge.

Nope. Mrs. Lasse knows it's spelled bonafide (bona fide) and knows better than to correct a spelling with an incorrect spelling. And no, we weren't being funny. We're dead serious.

Maybe.

Glad that's all straightened out.

Now, has Mrs. Lasse decided how the two of you feel about Fritsche yet?
