As long as Danny DeVito makes sure all the ways you could possibly be protected are covered, you'll be fine. My family's experience shows that you need to get lawyers involved and that you need paperwork to back yourself up. And yes, he could default, but at least you weren't the sucker that handed him money on good faith...

I'm very careful when it comes to money, so it wasn't even a thought to not have my lawyer involved in something like this. My lawyer wants me to have the dirt bag put his home up as collateral, but I figure that would just put me in a more awkward situation if he were to default.

How do you get 10K behind on bills, anyway. Especially a mortgage. Like, I've forgotten my internet bill and been two weeks late on it and felt guilty...

I really don't know, it's not like they wouldn't have tried to contact him by mail or by phone. Some people just don't care, and I'm honestly embarassed that I'm related to someone like that.

I don't know all the details, or how many months behind he is on his mortgage payments. I'll find out a lot more when I deal with the bank.

I'm just saying that, unfortunately, when you put your entire (blind) trust in a business partner or potential business partner. You put yourself to a high risk of getting screwed, especially on situations like yours.

I heard he's now off to Alberta with his buddy Ryan White and close from Williams Lake. The janitor of the ladies' bathroom of my office, who knows a guy who works at the Bell Center and meets Bob Gainey once in a while, told me that. They might go there see their buddy Carey and his COUSINS

Student loans . My friends who did use their loans most of the time didn't seem to realise it was borrowed money, I think they saw it as free money. I hate debts, people should learn to hate them too, the gov.'s already put us 80 000$ each in debt(yet our infrastructure is ****), don't see any reason to add on to that.

Not give it to him so his wife can get 5-inch acrylic nails.
This is better advice than what I would've given, which would've been to screw both of them and their kids to hell. It's not your problem. At all. And those kids aren't yours. In fact, you might only be delaying the inevitable, both for the parents, and the kids(how old are they?). If you end up having problems about the loan(something you know the chances of happening), you'll burn the bridges with the kids anyways. Then again, I'm pretty cold-hearted when it comes to this.

Yeah, but then again, I don't think anyone regrets blindly throwing their savings in Lampert funds or Hathaway stocks. That's luck more than anything though.

The Stock Market is a different world. Speculation is different, way different...
But then again, some people threw the few they had as savings in "safe" Investment Funds and lost everything...

I know it's not my problem KA, and like I said if the kids weren't involved. I wouldn't have given this a second thought. The 3 kids are all under the age of 7, seems dirtbags have no problem pro-creating. You're definitely right, I might be delaying the inevitable. But what can I say, I'm a a-hole when it comes to my business, but a wimp when it comes to kids

I had my top 5 and everyone else.... one of the everyone else firms broke through into that top 5 today... but number 1 remains the same.
