Phoenix may not be New York but if he turned down a warm weather American city where can toil as an athlete in obscurity, aside from a management dispute with Coyotes brass, why would he then sign in Nashville? Miami? LA? Dallas? What's the difference and what's wrong with Canada?
I get that it can be hassle to go out in public in cities like Toronto but I'll never understand why hockey players go live in the sunbelt to toil in obscurity? You'd think as a pro athlete you'd want to play somewhere people watch and care about the sport and recognize you. I'd be like a country music musician from Nashville moving to Quebec city to play their country music.
I was trying to look at it more as Canada from an American's perspective.
