The Official "Will there Be A Panic Deal?" Thread

It is a bit early, but lets keep it all in one thread.

I say no deal just yet. Wait until we see how bad it really is with Primeau.

By examinations, I mean physical examinations, to clear up possible confusion.

I picked that he wont panic. If they are both out for a while he may be forced into doing something but it wont be a panic like the Oates deal. I'd like to see all of the details on the possibilities of Carter coming up. Anyone know the details?

On the other hand, we could ride Gags and Sharp as centers for a littler while if need be...

I think he's [Clarke] learned that two centers going down is irreplacable. You just can't win with unfamiliar new players without your core players as part of the system already. It can't happen. The only thing to do is wait and hope they recover in time for the true season.

I picked that he will panic after examinations. Its so obvious that making as trade is the wrong decision. This however means Clarke will be bound to do it.

Sounds like it's broken not shattered. CSN said he was speaking afterwards, but he was knocked unconscious. He's going to spend the night in the hospital.

TSN changed the headline from "Roenick's Jaw Shattered by Puck" to "Flyers' Roenick knocked out by puck"

If it was a broken jaw would he have to spend the night in the hospital? Maybe he also has a concussion?

Seems hard to say a broken jaw is good news, but it is compared to a shattered one...right?

From TSN.CA

``Right now my jaw is very unstable, but my head is clear,'' said Roenick. ``We'll get it wired up as soon as possible, hopefully it won't be too long.''

Has anyone heard anything about Primeau's injury? Panger kept saying something about his leg, but I am pretty sure the injury was to his head.

It would be nice to have a good center hanging around now. Comrie? Seriously, this is just awful news tonite for the Flyers and there is not much that can be done about injuries. Primeau is the blood and guts of the outfit and hopefully will not miss much time with what looked like a concussion. Roenick is gone for a good long while.

we are better down the middle this time around as to 02'
then all we had left after 25 and 97 went down was Dopita and Manderville I think
But this year we have Handzus who is playing really well, Lapointe, Sharp and Recchi if need be
And it was closer to the playoffs in 02 aswell

No trade will happen, Sharp will move back to center, if he's not already there and if anything, they'll make a minor trade.

You can't replace those two with ANY trade. I believe Clarke is fully aware of what those two bring and like a couple of you have mentioned they're much deeper than the Oates deal year.

ESPN had Primeau with a "head to hip" injury on their scroll during some college b-ball game last night and the replay I saw it was definitely his head against Holik's hip. Panger said his leg, but he was able to put pressure on both legs walking off last night. Probably rung his bell.

Primeau was saying after the game that he was fine; just got caught by Holik. Roenick will most certainly play with a mask, ala Pat LaFontaine from a few years ago. Yes, he will be eating all his meals from a straw for a while. Now that I think about it, I think Roenick also wore a mask when Hatched broke his jaw. Poor guy, he has had some serious injuries throughout his career.

I voted no move as much out of hope that no big moves are made.
Zues, Sharp, Lappy are all OK and Prims will likely not be out long.
White can fill in for the next few games until Prims gets back.
JR missed 3+ weeks last time this happened to him.
I would love to see Sharp get second line time and talent - Amonte and Gags around him, I think at least for the short term that we would be surprised at how good he can be.
Holik should get blasted next meeting even though unintentional he took some questionable shots at others.

Doesn't look too bad without JR and KP anyway...

Make Gagne, Handzus, Kapanen (played C in jr and on the pp in the 2002 olympics) and LaPointe/Sharp the four centres.

I think you might see both Fridge and Brash out there on Saturday, maybe play on the same line and play pinball with Holik ... he just needs to quietly be dragged into a corner and beaten.

It is not as bad as it first appeared

JR's jaw is only broken (it just does not sound right to say someone's jaw is "only broken") He'll be back well before the playoffs. As for Captin Keith, sound like he might miss a game or two. We'll be fine! Thats why I voted no deal on this poll!
