hmm another goalie, maybe vally is gone and wiikman makes the team or liv (if signed) gets to backup not that i want vally gone, but if a cheaper younger goalie with better potential has a chance to make it, then i say go for it.

It could if the Rangers foresee having trouble re-signing LeNevue, or have decided not to...

Wiikman, for as well as he played in the AHL this season, is nowhere near NHL ready. Athletically, and instinct-wise, he's great, but his technique needs work. And even if Vally comes back, I think the Rangers would want two goalies with real upside in Hartford just in case. Holt and Zabba are also both free agents, and neither appear to be bona fide NHL prospects so far, so maybe the Rangers are just trying to improve their depth in goal.

Edit to add: And based on a really crummy internet translation of the article referenced, it appears that Liv and Henrik are good friends. Which may just be the bigger reason behind it.

then why trade montoya for an ufa goalie, just have holt and wiikman in hartford, at least if the rangers were to get a 5th round pick (using an example) for montoya, its better than an ufa to be.

Basically says that he heard that the Rangers want Liv. And that Liv probably wants to give NHL another try. Also mentions that Lundqvist and Liv are good friends and that Lundqvist might have said a few good things.

I've liked the limited amount which I've seen from Liv, apart from that youtube clip obviously, wouldn't mind seeing him join.

Can never have too much goaltending depth... So long as we can fit him under the contract limit, I wouldn't mind having him around.

I'm more intrigued by the fact that they let someone wear #100 in the Swedish Elite League...

Yea...

Färjestad's main sponsor, a coffee company (Löfbergs Lila), celebrated their 100th anniversary and somehow were allowed to transform Pelle Prestberg's #10 to #100. The sponsor are also the reason the wear purple jerseys, the sponsors main colour is purple... Their arena name rights are also owned by the same sponsor.

Let's just say that I'm not a big Liv supporter, so I'll just post a video of Liv's performance in the 2008 WC in Quebec.

Also featured in video is the "beautiful" language of Finland

well. his masks at least are awesome: http://www.daveart.com/v2/index.php?page_id=84
Especially the one he used for the Red Wings: http://www.daveart.com/v2/wp-content...hp?maskID=1422
he seems to have a sense of humor in what he puts on them.

Ah, I remember when he was more highly thought of than Lundqvist as a prospect...

That said, I also recall that he does have skill if he can just figure it out.
