I am more then fine with bringing Marty back in a 13th forward kind of role. He's a great locker room guy and a useful utility guy.

Except he bleeds like 50 goals against. The truth is, he does play against some tough opposition so it's either him getting it up the ass or one of the kids.

I just wish he had more offensive skill to be a threat.

Having a swoon for Reasoner tells you everything you need to know about MacT.

The problem is with the way MacTavish uses Reasoner. He should be getting 4th line minutes and should be used only on the PK and under no circumstances should he be given time on the PP or as an extra attacker in the final minute. Craig just doesn't get it with Marty, which is why I don't want him back because if MacT hasn't learned how to use him now then he never will.

Guess he's coming back
He actually sounded a bit defensive at Dan's suggestion that Marty might not return.

Maybe hes just talking Reasoner up as a favour to him for when he is looking for employment later?

I have no issues with Marty coming back if Stoll is gone, because Marty kills penalties and is a top face off man.

I am fine with it. But I have a feeling that MacT as always loves to stick with the guys who were good for him in the past. Which means I think he will probably still be in the line up even if we are healthy.

As I said I am fine with it as long as he is used more in a 13th forward role, get in there if there are injuries or extended losing streaks and just be good in the room kind of thing. But I have my doubts that MacT can resist not throwing him out there night after night.

He doesn't want anyone else unless it's a very "high end" player.

Pitkanen will get another year if MacT has his way.

Needs to work and change subtle aspects of his game.

Comparing Pitkanen trade to Gretzky trade but doesn't seem comfortable discussing it.

Yeah, that was my read. Get the impression he would prefer to keep Pitkanen.

Isn't that what Marty Sakic is???

I would hate to lose a guy like Pouliot just to keep Reasoner who is going in one direction, the wrong direction.

Injuries are just bad luck but thought the injuries actually favoured the development of the young guys.

Injuries actually a bit of a blessing to get young guys time.

That is the smart plan IMO as well. That was good to hear.

Yeah that is a concern. For injuries and as a stabilizing presence for the kids, he is perfect. As a regular player, he is lacking.

I think you mean to say that MacT believes Pitkanen isn't untouchable because no one, not even Gretz, was untouchable in a trade. The reason for MacT's discomfort is because he wasn't telling the whole truth. There is one untouchable player, and his name is Marty...

Roli isn't going to be the outright #1 coming into camp and has to fight for his spot.

Goaltending:

Happy to have Roloson back but seems didn't address 3 goaltender issue.

I think he brought that up illustrate that yes anyone can be traded and you would have to adjust. But basically they are not looking to trade him and he is in the plans for next year.
