Colorado @ Detroit

Bad time not to have Blake. But, I think its time the avs stop getting owned by the wings in the regular season. Time for Colorado to turn it up a notch IMO. I wonder if the Wings will seek retribution against Foote. Quite frankly, that would seem like a stupid move considering Foote's penalty was totally unintentional.

Anyhoo, I might as well add that as effective Maltby plays, he lacks honour and seems to lack some self-respect. He's one player who certainly is protected by the instigator rule. I can only hope he actually goes at it with Worrell today

That's touched on in a piece in the RMN today:

Yzerman and Foote are both warriors, and both classy.

Pretty much all the players know the Foote high stick was accidental. I dont expect any retribution at all. Its all the neanderthal fans who want the bloodbath.

Wings could be looking for revenge against Foote but we've got:

Worrell
McCormick
McAllister
Cummins(possibly)

so hopefully those guys won't let Detriot get away with that much.

I can't wait for the game, the Avs should of won last they squared off and the Avs will probaly be looking to walk out with 2 points.

Yes, I'm glad you have Worrell. I hope he takes a few more stupid penalties in the 2'nd and 3'rd period.

Skoula was covering a player cutting across the crease, Yzerman was coming in behind Skoula and the other Detroit player.

Unless it is Skoula's responsibility to cover mutliple Detroit players coming in on Aebischer, I fail to see how it is how it is Skoula's fault.

If you want player to blame for the first PP goal, ask yourself what Morris is doing covering Shanahan up high when Konowalchuk is already playing Shanny. It sure looked to me that on the play, Morris blew his coverage responsibilities completely.

Specialty teams already are looking to be the difference.
Colorado 0-2 on the PP; Detroit 1-2.

It sucks having McAllister, Cummins and Worrell all playing today against Detroit...Granato will pretty much have to use three lines with the absence of some of the 3rd and 4th liners due to injury.

I'll have to watch the replay of the goal since I'm still stuck at work for another three hours.

This has not been mentioned yet: Larsen is out with a groin injury.

Avs two goals scored by Joe Sakic and Karlis Skrastins.

Sakic from Paul Kariya and Alex Tanguay. Skrastins from Steve Konowalchuk.

2-2 heading into the second intermission.

Side note; David Aebischer looks damn good and pretty confident in net too. The two goals scored on him was a great re-direction from Steve Yzerman and the Jiri Fischer shot was a very good one top-shelf.

I'm extremely confident in the goaltending abilities of David Aebischer for this hockey club.

lol. Thomas Holmstrom got him to take a penalty, and the wings scored a goal. The first game this past Wednesday, Worrell believed he could get Maltby to fight after Maltby hit I THINK Tanguay with a clean check. He took a penalty then and the wings scored as well.

Hes proving why Goons never play in the play-offs, and why Detroit doesnt go out and get one.

There's no choice with Larsen out, the Avs have to dress everyone that's healthy today.

Detroit's been making their shots count, the Avs have had a few great chances (better than the ones that their goals were scored on, really) where I don't think the shooter put it where they wanted to, and Legace made tasty glove saves.

Should be a good third!

Selanne is fast becoming the biggest five million dollar bust in Avs franchise history. We still don't have the talent depth that's plagued us vs the wings for years. Not having Nikolishin is hurting as well. Time to get another decent third liner PL.

Selanne has been below average, for sure, but i don't think PL needs to make any desperation trades right now. Nikolishin, Hinote, Hahl, and Larsen are all going to be back at some point. The first three are very important on the PK, as well as Blake.

That's it. No more talk about brining in some veteran goalie just because he has playoff expereince.

Aebischer is the man and he's earned the shot to lead this team to a Cup game after game. Can he make the spectacular save or what?

i hate to criticize aebi after those two amazing saves...but i gotta say, he should have been in better position for those plays. but, the wings are a very creative team, so staying square to the shooter is difficult.

WOW DAVID AEBISCHER!

Robbed Brett Hull twice on ridiculous saves!!

That second one with Aebischer flying through the air with his stick was something of beauty.

Teemu Selanne was credited with the first Joe Sakic goal(our 1st goal), but the captain has converted now to make it 4-2 Avs.
